‘Tis the season to help make wishes come true 🎁

Celebration of Giving brings Christmas joy to children and families across Cook and Lake counties. Here are three ways to help:

“This marathon is more than a race for me. It is an opportunity to serve.”

This Sunday, Cesar Contreras runs the Chicago Marathon for Catholic Charities.

He’s a catechist at Most Blessed Trinity Parish in Waukegan, and he was inspired to take his running to the next level by his wife and sister-in-law, who both work at Catholic Charities.

Meet Sara Ray Hallman, President and CEO of Easterseals Chicago and Rockford Regions, a member of the Catholic Charities Cardinal’s Council, and one of six runners taking on the Bank of America Chicago Marathon for Catholic Charities.

A former University of Chicago competitive runner and Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, Sara is running in memory of her father, Dr. Joseph Hallman, a theology professor and longtime Catholic Charities donor.

Her goal is to raise $20,000 for Catholic Charities and shine a bigger spotlight on the work happening across our communities.

Meet Luke Deely, one of six runners taking on the Bank of America Chicago Marathon for Catholic Charities.

Luke grew up attending Catholic schools in Chicago, where serving others became part of who he is. A longtime basketball player, he worked his way from a few miles to half-marathons and now his first 26.2.

For Luke, the race is about more than crossing the finish line.

“I’ve always been taught to help your neighbor.”

Glow of Hope: Seasons of Love is an in-person brunch and event supporting the House of the Good Shepherd Ministry, which has served more than 6,000 mothers and children rebuilding after domestic violence.
