Talbert Memorial Fund

Talbert Memorial Fund The Talbert Memorial Fund was created to honor the lives of Russell Talbert III who at the age of 21, was murdered on October 27, 1997.

The Talbert Memorial Fund, through the vehicles of inspirational events, creative services, and purposeful products, provides access to mental and emotional health services for those traumatized by violence, specifically gun violence. Our aim is to dispel the myths surrounding counseling, therapy, and mental health within our cultural context so that black men can receive the help and healing that

will lead to health and wholeness. Twenty years later on August 30, 2017, his nephew, Jalen Talbert, also 21, was murdered. These two young men along with countless others were taken much too young through acts of senseless gun violence.

Happy Sunday 🤗

Having lost my Jalen to gun violence nearly 7 years ago, as part of my grieving & healing process, I began hosting a pre-Mother's Day candle making workshop to honor all mothers, both living and passed, in remembrance of his loss.

I invite you to join me at this special event this Saturday, May 11th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Enjoy complimentary mimosas 🥂 or mocktails 🍹 as you create two personalized scented candles to honor your own loved one whether they are still with you or have passed away, and reflect on the ongoing presence in your life.

Head over to the website (www.TheCovChicago.org) to register and I’ll see ya next Saturday (all supplies and libations included)😉

Join me in celebrating National Donate Life Month this April!

Even in death, my son was a . My amazing Jalen lives on in others through his selfless act of donating ❤️‍🩹Through his kidney organ donation he saved the lives of a woman in her 30’s & a man in his 60’s while also enhancing the lives of over 100 individuals through organ and tissue donation..

Register today as an organ, eye, and tissue donor to become a like my incredible son Jalen. Despite his tragic passing due to gun violence, his life did not end with a “PERIOD” but a “SEMI-COLON” ;

Did you know that black and brown communities are disproportionately affected by organ failure and in need of transplants?

Did you know you can be an organ donor even while you’re alive? If you have a family member on the kidney transplant list, consider being a living donor and giving the gift of life.

Did you know that over 5000 people in Illinois and Indiana are currently waiting for life-saving organ transplants? By becoming an organ and tissue donor, you can help save lives within your own community, within your own family🤗🥰

Your name or the name of your loved ones may not be on the organ and tissue transplant list today, but tomorrow, it could be a different story🤷🏽‍♀️.

Join me in honoring Jalen’s legacy and helping Gift of Hope reach our goal of inspiring 25,000 new donors.

Together, we can make a difference! 🌻💙🫀👁️‍🗨️🦵🏼👐🏽
