Historic Pullman Garden Club

Historic Pullman Garden Club The Historic Pullman Garden Club has many dedicated and talented members who continually work to help beautify our historic neighborhood.

The Historic Pullman Garden Club was established in 1991 with three members. Currently, we number more than sixty dedicated and talented members continually working to help beautify our community. The Club maintains: the three circular beds in Arcade Park and Pullman Park; Fulton Field; the North Allée; and Gateway Garden, a part of the NeighborSpace community garden network. We also sponsor assorted street corner beds maintained by community residents. The Club hosts a reception for Pullman house tour volunteers every fall, organizes an annual garden walk in June, focusing on private and public gardens in Pullman, and sponsors an annual Victorian Tea. Monthly meetings are held to plan projects, trips and special events. During the winter months our lecture series brings a variety of speakers to inform and amuse members. Our efforts have been well received. In 2002, the Rose Garden won third place in Mayor Daley's citywide Awards Program for Community Landscapes - Region 5. In 2004, Mayor Daley's Landscape Awards Program presented the first place award for Community Landscapes - Region 5 to the Gateway Garden. Over the years the Club has worked with the Field Museum and the Chicago Botanic Garden to help create our Urbs in Horto - a city in a garden. The garden club is a 501(c)3 organization, which meets monthly, on the first Wednesday of the month at the Pullman Community Center, 614 E. 113th Street. Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. Email [email protected] for more information.

Lemonade and Lawn Games this Sunday

We've worked hard in Gateway Garden (111th St and Langley Ave, Chicago) all year, now it's time to enjoy this lovely garden. Please join garden club members, neighbors, and friends at an informal gathering this Sunday, Sept. 27 from 11 am to 1 pm for snackies, drinks, and low-effort games. Feel free to bring a little something if you like, but do bring yourself and a chair.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

You still have time to see the exhibit in Gateway Garden at 647–57 East 111th Street, through October's Annual Pullman House Tour weekend (Oct 10 & 11).

Inspired by Willem de Kooning Drawing, Project Windows enlivens storefronts across Chicago this summer with the energy, creativity, and expressive spirit of abstract art.
