Illinois Woman's Press Association

Illinois Woman's Press Association The IWPA (since 1885) is an organization of communications professionals whose objective is to maintain and improve professional standards.

Founded in 1885, the Illinois Woman’s Press Association was created to provide pioneering female journalists with a community and support network in the male-dominated press field. In the ensuing 130-plus years, the organization has evolved into a professional and personal resource for creative communicators of any gender, in every field. Our objective has always been to improve professional stand

ards and opportunities for members in Illinois, to offer recognition of communications work, to promote and defend 1st Amendment rights, and to facilitate a community for the sharing of ideas, information and support. The IWPA is an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW), which can be found on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/NFPWomen or directly on their website at http://www.nfpw.org/. Benefits of Membership:
* Annual student IWPA/NFPW membership: $35. Professional IWPA/NFPW membership: $105. Student IWPA-only state membership: $10

* Access to job listings, mentoring opportunities, reduced contest entry and event fees, and venues for promoting/selling your work

* Committee positions and leadership opportunities, which make an invaluable professional resume builder
