The 46th Annual Scandinavian Day Festival will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM at Vasa Park in South Elgin, Illinois. Admission is $15 per person, children 12 and under are free, and parking is free. The program includes a church service at 10:30 AM, an opening ceremony at 11:30 AM, Scandinavian food, vendors, Kubb instruction, children's activities, pony rides, face painting, performances by Libido Funk Circus and Bert & Lindy, appearances by the Nordic Folk Dancers of Chicago and Leikarringen Heimhug Dancers, story time by Elsa, and a bonfire.

Nýrómur is a three-year, 90 million ISK research project (2025–2028) led by Reykjavík University in collaboration with the University of Iceland, the Árni Magnússon Institute, and Vikonnekt to develop an AI-powered system for computer-assisted pronunciation training in Icelandic. Building on previous work, the tool aims to help immigrants and international learners overcome pronunciation barriers by providing real-time, personalized feedback on difficult features like vowel length and intonation. The system is designed to integrate with the existing Icelandic Online platform and will be made open for developers to support broader language acquisition and social integration.
