Support Lacrosse in Illinois! A letter from Northwestern HC Coach Amonte-Hiller.
Dear Lacrosse Community,
Thank you for your continued support of the growth of lacrosse in the Midwest.
This is Kelly Amonte Hiller, Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Northwestern University. Over the past 26 years, I have had the privilege of witnessing the incredible growth of both boys’ and girls’ lacrosse throughout our region.
At Northwestern, we were fortunate to help break barriers beyond the traditional East Coast roots of the sport by becoming the first team outside the Eastern Time Zone to win a National Championship. Since then, Notre Dame Men’s Lacrosse has brought the first NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship to the Midwest as well. So many of you have played a critical role in the growth of our game, and we are grateful for your passion, commitment, and support. It has been inspiring to watch lacrosse continue to expand exponentially throughout the Midwest and across the country at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels.
I am reaching out because Northwestern has been given the opportunity to host the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Final Four this Friday 5/22 and Sunday 5/24 . This marks the first time a men’s or women’s lacrosse championship weekend has been hosted in our region, representing a major milestone for the continued growth of the sport in the Midwest.
We now have an incredible opportunity to show the broader lacrosse community that the Midwest is passionate about lacrosse and that fans throughout this region will come out to support the game at the highest level.
We ask that you join us and support this historic event as four outstanding teams compete for a national championship. Experiences like this inspire young athletes to dream big and see firsthand what is possible through the sport of lacrosse. Many of the athletes competing this weekend once had those same dreams themselves.
Please help us make this championship weekend a tremendous success so that it is not the last time the Midwest has the opportunity to host an event of this magnitude. We appreciate everything you can do to help promote the event and bring people out to support on Friday and Sunday.
