The Great Bowel Movement - Awareness for Crohn's & Colitis

The Great Bowel Movement - Awareness for Crohn's & Colitis Start the IBD conversation. The Great Bowel Movement is a 501(c)3 non-profit that empowers the patient community to increase awareness of IBD and Ostomies!

The Great Bowel Movement creates tshirts and other products designed to invite conversations about IBD in order to spread awareness. The shirts are designed to be fun and trendy, and to be worn out and about in your community. Wearing a shirt shows you are confident with yourself, proud of your story, and willing to become a role model for IBD. The popular "Ask Me" apparel helps invite conversatio

ns and educate the general public about IBD. Here's some things to know about interacting with our page:
We're all about conversation! In fact, we're founded on the phrase "ASK ME!" We encourage healthy, well rounded discussion, and we love to see our members promote a supportive community. We hardly ever delete comments or posts, in order to foster these open conversations. That being said, we will delete comments or posts that violate any of the following:
-Anything explicitly harmful, threatening, or bullying towards other members or the community at large
-Anything that is potentially harmful to others' health by providing false or misleading medical information
-Posts that are unrelated to the topic or conversation at hand, and clog up the otherwise meaningful conversation
-Posts about community members' personal fundraising campaigns (such as Take Steps and Team Challenge), or links to other groups or pages that aren't accompanied by a specific, valuable post or information. We do like to feature our members' efforts that stand out or are exceptional, in the name of awareness or research (such as Cowboys vs Crohn's) and are unique undertakings in the community. Thanks for helping us create a community full of support, thoughtfulness, and empowerment! If you've got any questions relating to these, please shoot us an email at [email protected]

Living with ulcerative colitis (UC) has affected my relationship with diet and nutrition. I’m partnering with Pfizer to share my UC story.

Come along with me as I cook the Steamed Fish with Mint & Sage from the LivingWith™ UC app.

The recipes in the app were designed to provide delicious and filling meals for those living with UC, like me. There is a good variety and they’re even tagged with many of the different types of diets patients may follow, as well as potential trigger foods that may affect UC. Not all UC patients have food triggers, and they can look very different from patient to patient. That’s why I love using this app as a resource because I can choose recipes based on certain foods I want to avoid or a specific diet I am following.

Visit www.ThisIsLivingWithUC.com and download the LivingWith™ UC app to find this recipe and more, as well as wellness tools and conversation guides for patients living with UC. Pfizer

Living with ulcerative colitis (UC) can be so overwhelming, it can feel like a team sport! Surrounding oneself with a support system can really help manage the experience. That’s why I’m partnering with Pfizer to share my UC story.

UC can affect so much more than the physical – it can also have mental, emotional and social impacts. Once I recognized the power of openness, support, and community, I took steps to make sure I surrounded myself with others to help me cope with this range of challenges.

Learning to have open and honest conversations with the people on my team – from my HCP group and other patients to non-patients and even my dog – has helped me communicate what I need to prioritize for my wellness on all counts.

Visit www.ThisIsLivingWithUC.com or download the LivingWith™ app to learn more about how to maintain an open dialogue with doctors about the impact of UC.

Living with UC is a journey every day and all year long. I’m partnering with Pfizer to share my UC story.

It’s almost my birthday, so like a New Year’s resolution, I’m taking a pause to take stock of how things are going. I’m working to be intentional about keeping up what’s going well, and looking at what I can improve, so that I can be active in managing the effects my UC has on my life.

It’s important to me to do what I can to manage my health and wellness, and a big part of that is managing my UC. Like many patients, I had to learn how to have open conversations with my healthcare team and to bring up different aspects of my life from symptom flares to how those may affect other aspects of my life. After all, a Pfizer-sponsored global survey revealed many patients often regretted not telling their physician more during visits.

Come celebrate this milestone with me and learn what I’m taking stock of as I turn a year older!

Visit www.ThisIsLivingWithUC.com and download the LivingWith™ UC app to read about tips designed to help you maintain an open dialogue with healthcare teams about living with UC.

Living with ulcerative colitis (UC) has affected my life with big and small challenges, in nearly all areas. I’m partnering with Pfizer to share my UC story.

UC can have an impact on life in general, and affects physical, social, mental and emotional wellbeing. I have found that learning to better manage comes in part through open, transparent conversations with those around me, including my healthcare providers.

From being hospitalized to competing in a running race and everything in between (and puppies), I’m excited to share in this video some of the things that have helped me in my journey. After all, in a global Pfizer-sponsored survey of self-identified patients living with UC, many said they worry they will be seen as difficult if they ask too many questions during appointments. But I’m here to tell you that everyone's journey with UC is worth talking about—even when it seems difficult.

Great news for UC patients, we now have another treatment option on the table! Check out the news that the FDA has approved Pfizer's Velsipity (etrasimod)!

Why is this option significant? It's a once-a-day oral pill (no injections or infusions), and it works differently than other treatment mechanisms. It's an S1P, different than anti-TNFs and JAK inhibitors. S1Ps have been used to treat other immuno-related diseases for the past few years, and now we've got them in IBD. Read it all in the official release:

Approval of oral, once-daily VELSIPITY based on favorable safety and efficacy data from the ELEVATE UC Phase 3 trials Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved VELSIPITY™ (etrasimod), an oral, once-daily, selective sphingosine-1-phosphate...
