Ten years…What began as a vision has become a tradition that has touched the lives of hundreds of children, families, teachers, and volunteers. Last weekend, we proudly celebrated the 10th anniversary of Kampi Uskana while continuing the same spirit and purpose that have defined Kampi from the very beginning.
We extend our sincere gratitude to every Kampi kid, parent, volunteer, teacher and supporter who has made Kampi a priority over the years. Your commitment and belief in Kampi are the reason it continues to thrive.
As we celebrated this milestone, we honored Kampi founder Idriz Shabani and the 2016 Uskana Board, whose vision, dedication, and leadership helped bring Kampi Uskana to life. Their efforts created something far greater than a camp…they helped build a community where our children can connect with one another while learning and preserving our culture, history, language and traditions.
A special thank you to our incredible teachers…Dia Rizmani, Selime Baftiri-Ballazhi, Florije Zeqiri and Beglije Osmani. Through your passion, patience, and creativity, you inspire our children to embrace their heritage with pride and confidence. The impact you make extends far beyond the weekend and we are grateful to you. Thank you to all the volunteers and the current Uskana board for your tireless work to make each Kampi weekend successful.
One of the most meaningful parts of our celebration was welcoming back many of the founding families and original Kampi students. Hearing their stories, memories, and reflections reminded us why Kampi matters. For many, Kampi provided lifelong friendships, a stronger connection to their roots, and a sense of belonging that continues long after Kampi ends.
A touching moment was watching the videos from our first three Kampi Uskana events, beautifully compiled by Husni Ashiku. Thank you, Husni, for preserving these priceless moments and giving us the opportunity to relive them together.
As we look back on the first 10 years, we do so with gratitude for everyone who has been part of this journey. And as we look ahead, we do so with excitement, knowing that the foundation built over the past decade will continue to inspire future generations.
Here’s to the next 10 years and beyond of friendship, culture, learning, and pride.
