Join us for Navigating the Legal and Regulatory Landscape for Equity Work with David Glasgow. RSVP using the link in our bio for free!

The work of equity is facing significant legal challenges, including lawsuits filed by anti-DEI advocacy groups, executive orders, and enforcement action by federal agencies. Join David Glasgow, executive director of the Meltzer Center for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging at NYU School of Law and co-author of the book How Equality Wins: A New Vision for an Inclusive America, for a conversation about how to advance inclusion and equal opportunity even in this turbulent moment.

In a moderated fireside chat format, David will explore the overall legal environment for equity work—including relevant court decisions, executive orders, and other legal developments his center is monitoring—and give practical guidance on how to identify risk in diversity programs, how to mitigate risk, and how to strengthen the work of equity in the new legal landscape.

The Waukegan Arts Council is hosting its annual Art Show at the Jack Benny Center for the month of August and they are looking for YOUR art to put up for display!

There is no fee to enter the show and you can sell your work.

There is limited space so send this in to reserve your spot. Drop off times will be sent after they receive application

Barbara&Barbara is throwing our first ever annual fundraising festival, Barbara Fest, on Sept. 27th! The goal of Barbara Fest is to raise money for ALMA, Brave Space Alliance, and Lace to Liberation, as well as provide a space to platform, uplift and celebrate q***r BIPOC.


We are looking for BIPOC, especially q***r BIPOC, who are artists, makers, small business owners, performers, and more! If you would like to be a vendor or performer, or are interested in volunteering, please fill out the google form which is accessible through our link tree or the QR code above. Join us, for a night of bilingual intergenerational stories by, for with Chicago Southsiders! For the third year in a row, Free Street is continuing our cross-cultural, intergenerational bilingual storytelling series. Free Street is collaborated with Peace and Education for an 8 week storytelling project that invites Southside residents to document community histories via their own lived experience.
The program culminates in a public storytelling performance on on Monday August 10th at the Free Street Storefront 4625 S Ashland Ave.
Doors open at 6:30 - performance start at 7pm

HISTORIAS DEL SUR DE CHICAGO

Una noche de historias bilingües e intergeneracionales creadas por, para y con los residentes del Sur de Chicago. Por el tercer año consecutivo, Free Street continúa con su serie de narración de historias bilingüe, intercultural e intergeneracional. Free Street colabora con Peace and Education en un proyecto de narración de ocho semanas que invita a los residentes del South Side a documentar historias de la comunidad a través de sus propias vivencias.

In honor of David Amarri Richard King - a Creative Director and Cultural Producer dedicated to elevating artists of color.

The David Amarri Foundation supports emerging BIPOC artists and cultural producers in the City of Chicago. We value creativity, equity, and community and encourage applicants of all backgrounds to share their work with us. Self-identification information is collected to ensure our micro-grants reach those most aligned with our mission.

Emerging artists are defined as individuals in the early stages of their professional artistic or cultural production careers.

Qualifying works include, but are not limited to:
Painting, Photography, Film, Digital Art, Mixed Media, Sculptures, Ceramics and Pottery, Woodworking, Glass Art, Metalwork, Leatherwork, Clothing/Accessory design, Jewelry Design, Hand-sewn Textiles, Authors, Musicians, Art Event Producer or Organizer.
