In his budget President Obama offered a proposal to help youth who are aging out of the foster care system secure more permanent housing. His plan is to extend the amount of time former foster youth can receive support to stay in their homes from 18 months to five years. The President's proposal will help the thousands of young people who have aged out of the foster care system keep their housing and prevent them from becoming homeless. I joined seven of my colleagues in telling my fellow members of Congress that the President's proposal makes sense and should become law.
