It was so great being able to connect with the UIU fam at the Steppenwolf Theatre last night to watch Leroy and Lucy, a play written by Ngozi Anyanwu and directed by Awoye Timpo. The play did a wonderful job at showing the connections between African and African American cultures, emphasizing how we are all connected as a Diaspora. Join NAPA and UIU as we partner with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company for CONNECTIONS at Steppenwolf’s Tap Bar for a pre-show gathering in appreciation of cultural and creative exchange across the diaspora. Join us for the pre-show then stick around as we watch Leroy and Lucy together, a play led by an incredible team - Ngozi Anyanwu (playwright) and Awoye Timpo, (director) - who builds a musical world on stage connecting Black Americans to both the Diaspora and their West African origins.
