Safe Families for Children National USA The trauma of child abuse can be devastating and have lasting consequences for a child. It is from this philosophy Safe Families for Children (SFFC) was born.

Safe Families for Children is a nonprofit volunteer movement that serves and supports parents facing crisis in isolation to help keep children safe and families together! Many instances of abuse and neglect can be prevented if families in crisis had a support network of caring individuals to help them in a time of need. In 2003, SFFC founder, Dave Anderson, found that if loving families can provide a safe and caring environment for a child at critical times, we can not only prevent harm to children, but we can enhance a parent's ability to provide what that child needs. Safe Families for Children (SFFC) is a national movement of compassion that gives hope to families facing crisis in isolation. A network of volunteers provide safe, loving homes for parents to voluntarily have their children cared for while they restore stability in their own lives. Our dedication to family support, stabilization, and child abuse prevention is driven by responsibility for the well-being of children in our communities. SFFC partners with churches, local community agencies, volunteer families as well as government organizations across the country. The SFFC network provides essential extended family-like relationships to nearly 1,000 children and families annually. Learn more at www.safe-families.org

We are so excited to gather as a staff, hear from Robert Glover of Care for Children, and hear about his inspirational journey to find homes for over a million orphans in China. We also enjoyed special music from Phil Stacey. What an inspiring night to kick off our staff conference.

Love all the partnerships that Safe Families chapters are building in local communities to work together to keep children safe and families supported!

We are deeply grateful for Tarrant County’s support of family preservation and foster care prevention, and especially for Commissioner Alisa Simmons’s heart for the children and families who call our county home. Through our personal interactions with Commissioner Simmons, we have appreciated her willingness to listen, her desire to understand the challenges families face, and her passion for helping our community respond with care and purpose.

For Safe Families for Children DFW, this work is deeply personal. Behind every referral is a parent navigating a difficult season and children who need safety, stability, and connection. By surrounding families with trusted relationships and practical support, we help parents build on their strengths, address challenges, and keep their children safely at home whenever possible.

Strong partnerships make this work possible. When county leadership, churches, volunteers, and community organizations bring their resources and relationships together, families gain a stronger circle of support. Tarrant County’s investment in family preservation helps strengthen that response and creates opportunities to reach families earlier.

Commissioner Simmons, thank you for the heart and commitment you bring to this work. We value the relationship we are building with you and our shared commitment to a county where children are protected, parents are supported, and families have the opportunity to thrive.

Every month, we highlight the amazing people who make up the SFFC movement! 🙌

This October, join us in praying for our Family Friends. They walk alongside parents, providing encouragement, mentoring, and genuine relationships.
Temporary resources can help in a pinch, but our Circle of Support is built for the long haul. Family Friends offer the meaningful, long-term relationships that vulnerable parents need to thrive. ❤️
