The last session this afternoon was a big one, as a panel of experts discussed what should be included in an Intermediary Go-To-Market Playbook.

For our final breakout sessions at Summer Conference 2026, we had two outstanding sessions: one exclusive for AM&AA members and the other spotlighting the Women of AM&AA.

First, John Cohan (Partner | Gesmer Updegrove LLP) hosted a deep dive on the key legal considerations that arise throughout the lifecycle of a middle-market transaction, from LOI negotiations and due diligence to definitive agreements, closing, and post-closing obligations, providing practical insights into identifying risks, overcoming common legal hurdles, and helping transactions reach a successful close.

For the second breakout, we were honored to host the Women of AM&AA for an engaging fireside chat with Gina Luna (Managing Partner | Genesis Park) and Lindsey Wendler (Managing Director | 414 Capital) as they had a candid conversation on Gina’s distinguished career in M&A, reflecting on the experiences, lessons, and strategic decisions that shaped her journey in this competitive and evolving industry.

At Summer Conference 2026, this afternoon’s agenda kicked off with an enlightening session on how stiff competition amongst private equity firms, as well as their longer holding periods, has required greater creativity, patience, and new approaches to value creation for businesses.

Our panel for this session, “Sourcing, Competition & the Path to Liquidity,” featuring Gina Luna (Managing Partner | Genesis Park), Stuart Noel (Managing Director | Compass Group), and Emily Ratcliffe (Supervisor | Biggskofford), explored the forces driving these changes, how intensifying competition is reshaping investment strategies, the use of independent sponsors to source deals, and where to find emerging avenues to liquidity.

We finished this morning’s sessions with two breakouts focused on two important topics in the M&A space.

First, Ira J. Perlmuter (Chief Investment Officer | IJP Family Partners) discussed “The Family Office: What Gets a Meeting and a Deal Done,” in which he shared how the capital of family offices, one of the most active buyer classes in the current market, is actually deployed, and how these offices determine acquisition criteria, how deal flow reaches the right desk, and what separates the opportunities that move forward.

The second breakout, “Strategic and Balanced - AI in Action,” consisted of a hybrid roundtable format with audience participations featuring John Cohan (Partner | Gesmer Updegrove LLP), Matthew Bain (CEO | Liquid Acquire LTD), Christine Hollinden (President | CPA Deal Desk) and Dr. Sean Saunders (Founder & Managing Partner | Quantum Performance Partners) discussed timely AI topics, shared real-world experiences, and demonstrated live how focused prompt engineering can dramatically impact the dealmaking process.
