Chekhov Studio Chicago Chekhov Studio Chicago and Chekhov Studio Chicago Online is Chicago's Acting Studio providing training in Michael Chekhov Acting Technique

Transforming People Through the Art of the Actor

Chekhov Studio Chicago is Chicago’s resource for studying the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique, an embodied, imaginative approach to the art of the actor. Our classes and workshops offer theatre/film actors, singers, and theatre teachers training in the Chekhov Technique.

“The beauty of his approach is that he offers a direct route to the actor’s creativity by the simplest means.” Simon Callow in his forward to Chekhov’s book, To The Actor. Originally the Studio of the Moving Dock Theatre Company, NFP, we opened our doors in 2003 and later changed our name to Chekhov Studio Chicago to reflect our mission to provide training in the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique for our community.

If you enjoy the approach of Michael Chekhov you will love discovering more of his ideas in this guided exploration of the Chekhov Archive! The Archive Project continues in an eight week session to open up this amazing resource.

It's like taking class with Michael Chekhov. We combine discussion with practice, getting fresh takes on the Chekhov Acting Technique, what this method offers the performing actor, what it offers those teaching acting, and what Chekhov refers to as the Theatre of the Future.

This we are grateful for all who seek art, beauty, goodness, and expressive humanity, and for our dear friends for believing in the value of art to improve our community and our world.
We are grateful for the creative urge that stirs our students and colleagues to move, to imagine, to transform, to tell stories with their whole being,
and for you for supporting these artistic endeavors.

Your impact is both local and global. meeting needs of young artists starting their professional journeys, professionals finding ways to perform more fully, and colleagues preparing to meet their students with a creative process that works.

Our aims are high, our means are time-tested and true. Now, all we need is you.

CAN WE COUNT ON YOUR SUPPORT?
THANK YOU!
