Friends of the Independence Library, Chicago

Friends of the Independence Library, Chicago Friends of Independence Branch Library, Chicago, is a volunteer run non-profit, 501(c)3 founded in 1989. This is NOT an official CPL page.

Its purpose is to raise funds and awareness for this branch. We're just here to help our new library thrive.

The 2026 budget proposes eliminating library vacancies and cutting about half the funds for new materials, security, and custodial services.
