Friends of the Independence Library, Chicago Friends of Independence Branch Library, Chicago, is a volunteer run non-profit, 501(c)3 founded in 1989. This is NOT an official CPL page.

Its purpose is to raise funds and awareness for this branch. We're just here to help our new library thrive.

Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas will mail nearly 1.8 million Tax Year 2025 First Installment property tax bills by March 2. Payments are due Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

A suburban hospital says at least four people have been treated this year for injuries related to the TikTok trend.

Looking to recycle unwanted and non-working holiday lights? Drop them off at Jaime Andrade, State Representative, 40th District's office, 4007 N Sacramento Ave., Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4pm, through January 31 and Reduce Waste Chicago will take them to be properly recycled.

Be sure your lights are separated from other decor and are free from other packaging (no plastic bags).
