The United Coalition For Change

The United Coalition For Change An inclusive, grassroots, non for profit focused in bringing awareness to social injustices. Even if some of those injustices aren't experienced first hand.

Through our fundraising and donations, we provide those in need with valuable, essential resources. I've started the Pink Fist Project in hopes that through my photo and interview series, I will be able to raise awareness to women's rights. Any and all future proceeds will go to one of the many charities I hope to work with as this project takes off. As a mother, a survivor and firstly, a woman, I

feel the need to bring to light the injustices women face daily. I hope that by portraying my subjects in their true femme spirit, I will be able to show the world that anyone and everyone should be a feminist. Welcome to the Pink Fist Project page.

“Throughout history it has been the inaction of those who could have acted, the indifference of those who should have known better, the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most, that have made it possible for evil to triumph.”
—Haile Selassie

After watching Shepard Fairey’s documentary I got inspired to make my own little piece of political art. So here it is. A modge podge of photos I found, snipped and cut, then morphed into the thoughts in my head. Thank you for the inspiration

Why aren’t there more statues of women in Chicago and around the country?" That's what Curious Citizen Kate Hannigan wonders.

For an upcoming story, we're looking at the history of female representation in Chicago's public spaces. If you could commemorate a historical or contemporary woman, who would it be and why? Message us on Facebook or email us at [email protected]. We might feature your picks in our story!

Next Stop: Ending violent attacks on women
Next Stop: Moving out of a Misogynistic Society.
Next Stop: Holding Men Accountable For Their Actions

But for now, I’ll continue to carry my conveniently pink colored mace. I’ll continue to hold my keys in my hand. I’ll continue to call my bf or dad when walking from my car to the house. I’ll not wear headphones when walking alone. I won’t put my hood up, even though I’m freezing, because it doesn’t allow me to see whose coming at me.

Peace of mind comes from not living in constant fear of being attacked by a man. Not from a keychain of pepper spray.
