MEDspiration

MEDspiration Inspired by Nature, Science, Technology & Ancient Wisdom. The greatest challenges require very long time horizons and cannot be solved by short term thinking.

MEDspiration was Founded by Student Doctor Navpreet Badesha, a third year medical student based out of Chicago, Illinois. Our board is comprised of medical doctors, nurses & medical students who are servant leaders of their respective communities. Our mission -- advancing human potential & promoting better mental, physical & spiritual health for our human family -- will require a new approach for

the fields of healthcare, education, medicine, energy, science & research. We must make long term investments into health, medicine, science, research, and our planet over 25, 50 or even 100 years. We must engage directly with the people we serve. We can't empower people if we don't understand the needs and desires of their communities. We must build technology to make change. Many institutions invest money in these challenges, but most progress comes from productivity gains through innovation. We must participate in policy and advocacy to shape debates. Many institutions are unwilling to do this, but progress must be supported by movements to be sustainable. We must back the strongest and most independent leaders in each field. Partnering with experts is more effective for the mission than trying to lead efforts ourselves. We must take risks today to learn lessons for tomorrow. We're early in our learning and many things we try won't work, but we'll listen and learn and keep improving. Together, we are a band of thinkers that can remove religion, race, gender & politics; and somehow come together to find solutions for a broken planet. We do after all, have the resources as a civilization to build a utopia!

🏈 If you watched the Super Bowl, you probably saw the “Relax your tight end” ad about prostate cancer screening.

🔁 HOW OFTEN?

• If your PSA is low (1 ng/mL), repeat every 2–4 years.

• If your PSA is 1–3 ng/mL, repeat every 1–2 years.

• The sweet spot for screening benefit is ages 55–69.

• After 75, screening is generally only recommended for very healthy individuals.

✅ THE BIG TAKEAWAY:

You do NOT need a digital re**al exam to screen for prostate cancer. The evidence shows DRE has poor diagnostic accuracy as a screening tool — pooled sensitivity of just 51% and specificity of 59%. A simple PSA blood draw is enough to start the process.

So yes, you can relax your tight end. 😅

Talk to your doctor. Know your risk. Get screened.

⭐️ You don’t need to wait till :

✌🏽Take 2 minutes to know your risk:

It’s not a diagnosis.

It’s information.

And information saves lives

✨Risk models like BCRAT (Gail Model) are recommended to identify who may benefit from enhanced screening.

Women with ≥20% lifetime risk should receive annual breast MRI in addition to mammography

MRI detects cancers that mammography can miss, especially in dense breast tissue.

Thirty-five years ago, on January 13, 1991, during the first round of the NFL playoffs, a single play changed sports history — becoming what many consider the most famous sports injury of all time.

As a tribute to Bo Jackson, we break down his final NFL snap and explain how a hip fracture-dislocation can lead to avascular necrosis — the slow death of the femoral head.

Teaching boys emotional regulation | center for emotional intelligence - The RULER Method

Boys don’t lack feelings—they’re often taught fewer words for them. When we teach emotional language: regulation and resilience follow.

Here’s a powerful example by .fitness showing how a dad can model emotional language in real time—helping a boy name his feelings, regulate his body, & complete the task at hand!

Some Medspiration for the next time your little one has big feelings: NAMING the feeling is how we break the cycle & undo the emotional disconnect so many of us were taught.

WHAT IS PREGNANCY BRAIN? 🧠🤰🏻

Converging evidence across mammalian species points to pregnancy as a remarkable period of neuroplasticity, revealing the brain’s ability to undergo adaptive, hormonally-driven neuroanatomical changes beyond adolescence.
