Breaking The Silence: A Benefit For Autism Awareness

Breaking The Silence: A Benefit For Autism Awareness An annual music concert for autism awareness and promote acceptance in Illinois. Therefore, with Veilside's unwritten creed of "Unity Within the Music Scene".

Breaking The Silence is an annual concert founded by drummer, Ron Thomas of one of Chicago's most popular Original bands, VEILSIDE. After years of struggle with his own son's diagnosis of Autism, Ron and his wife Jean, composed the idea of having a fund raising event to benefit one of the various supportive non-for-profit organizations within the state of Illinois. BTS was originally started to r

aise awareness for Autism but what started out as a simple event has grown into one of the Midwest's most popular non-corporate fund raising events. Autism is "a disturbance in psychological development in which use of language, reaction to stimuli, interpretation of the world, and the formation of relationships are not fully established and follow unusual patterns". BTS is brought to life by the overwhelming generosity of bands/volunteers that request to donate their merchandise, their time and their unremarkable talents. And just so you know, unlike most "charity" events, BTS prides itself on it's ability to have ABSOLUTELY 100% of ALL funds donated to it's honored chairty. There are no "off the top" or "this person gets paid first..." excuses! From the clubs that donate the room, the sound, the lights and security to the bands and volunteers who donate their art, their music, their time and most of all, their love. So if you simply show up, promote, donate or volunteer...you have already done your part! From the bottom of our hearts we thank you and see ya there!

May 1st, meaning "Autism Awareness Month" has come and gone. It was weird not doing Breaking the Silence this year. But we WILL be back next year. In the meantime, please keep yourself and your families SAFE and wishing everyone the very best in these ridiculously trying times. - CARE

Happy Monday All!!

Just checking in with an announcement for everyone.

It may be relevant to some that they have not seen the usual "Hype" about BTS12, Band Submissions, Volunteer Applications, Donations, ETC. With the events of the past months, the most tragic being the untimely passing of our brother and bandmate Bob Hilton and the wind down to the end of the line for Veilside, this year we will take a break from our event. It is not over (This thing is way too big for us to stop it alone lol), but out of respect and to basically regroup to make 2021 EPIC we will officially retire "BTS12" and BTS13 will be ready to roll April 2021.

Veilside will continue to Host Breaking The Silence in some fashion for as long as the public still demands it (And the questions have already been overwhelming) regardless of our retiring the band. We can't wait to put all efforts ahead to 2021 and make it the best event EVER.

I personally hope you can all still donate to our cause via the page, our website and even this post. Your support has helped so many, and will help so many more to come. We will keep you posted on our newest considerations for worthy causes here and on the C.A.R.E. Page. Thank you all for reaching out and all of your continued support! There will be a donate button attached if you have the means to help us, we definitely have some funds to make up for this year :-)

Remember to always support local music! 2021!!

Ron Thomas
