Breaking The Silence is an annual concert founded by drummer, Ron Thomas of one of Chicago's most popular Original bands, VEILSIDE. After years of struggle with his own son's diagnosis of Autism, Ron and his wife Jean, composed the idea of having a fund raising event to benefit one of the various supportive non-for-profit organizations within the state of Illinois. BTS was originally started to r
aise awareness for Autism but what started out as a simple event has grown into one of the Midwest's most popular non-corporate fund raising events. Autism is "a disturbance in psychological development in which use of language, reaction to stimuli, interpretation of the world, and the formation of relationships are not fully established and follow unusual patterns". BTS is brought to life by the overwhelming generosity of bands/volunteers that request to donate their merchandise, their time and their unremarkable talents. And just so you know, unlike most "charity" events, BTS prides itself on it's ability to have ABSOLUTELY 100% of ALL funds donated to it's honored chairty. There are no "off the top" or "this person gets paid first..." excuses! From the clubs that donate the room, the sound, the lights and security to the bands and volunteers who donate their art, their music, their time and most of all, their love. So if you simply show up, promote, donate or volunteer...you have already done your part! From the bottom of our hearts we thank you and see ya there!
