Four mayors representing towns big and small, suburban and rural, wrote an op-ed supporting Governor Pritzker's BUILD Plan. They describe how our housing shortage is hurting families everywhere, and how local governments can’t solve this statewide crisis alone.

"Nothing about this is radical. What is radical is continuing to do nothing while working families cannot find housing or afford to put down roots in the communities they want to live in. The state has a plan. Let’s let them get to work." 🏘️

1,987 homes were approved in last week's Zoning Committee meeting. AHIL members were in attendance to give public comment in support of many of the projects. 💪🏗️

Under new chair Ald. Gilbert Villegas, the committee greenlit residential developments in the West Loop, Near North Side, Avondale and elsewhere.

Multiple AHIL members were quoted in support of the 68 homes proposed for a strip mall in Bucktown. 💪

The project, which faces both strong opposition and support from neighbors, was deferred at Wednesday’s zoning hearing but will “likely” come up for a vote this month, Ald. Scott Waguespack said.

Developers previously pitched two buildings with housing and retail for Emanuel Congregation’s Sheridan Road property. They've since updated the proposal after hearing from neighbors and congregants.
