Program Coordinator Job Description:
(Part-time hourly employee, work volume that ebbs and flows depending on the season, flexible schedule needed, however, primarily afternoon & evening hours required, some morning hours required.)
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
Strive is a small Chicago nonprofit located in Hyde Park/Kenwood on the South Side that harnesses the power of volunteers to provide free educational and enrichment services to local youth. One-to-one tutoring/mentoring, small group tutoring/mentoring, and the Strive Summer Program half day summer camp are our primary services. Strive values our volunteers, students and their families, and all staff should expect to outwardly demonstrate and reinforce this shared value for our community every day on the job.
Job Description:
This position reports to the Executive Director
Manages attendance of students and tutors.
Daily communication through email, text, and phone with parents and tutors
Coordinates student and tutor schedules
Manage, collect, and process required student and tutor forms, tracking and following up as needed
Manage program budget, staff hours and supplies expenses.
Recruits, interviews, trains, develops, supports, and evaluates paid staff and volunteers
Manages student behavior
Assists in planning of annual fundraising benefit
Produces reporting as needed for projects and Board of Directors review
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or related field.
• 2 + years’ experience working in an administrative role.
• Experience supervising college interns and volunteers and direct experience working with children/youth and their families.
• Demonstrated understanding of and experience implementing academic goals and classroom activities, including experience with a wide range of academic subjects and age-groups.
• Understanding of social-emotional learning and pro -social youth development strategies.
• Proficient in MS office (particularly Word and Excel) including mail merge and labels, QuickBooks, and Google apps.
Proven ability to work as a part of a team developing programs, with ability to both lead and follow.
