🕊️ In Loving Memory of My Daughter, Sima
Forever in Our Hearts
July 27, we remember and celebrate the life of our beloved daughter, Sima Bambouyani.
Born in 1992, Sima left this world far too soon when she and her beloved mother, Zahra, were taken from us in the devastating Bam Earthquake of Christmas 2003.
Though her years were few, her life was filled with purpose.
Sima was intelligent, curious, and loved to read. She had a wonderful sense of humor that brought smiles to those around her. She was confident without arrogance, kind without weakness, and compassionate toward everyone she met.
As a dedicated student of traditional karate, Sima earned her Black Belt and won numerous competitions, including Gold Medals. She was honored as Student of the Year, not only because of her academic achievements but because of her character.
One quality I remember with special pride was her willingness to stand beside classmates who were being bullied. She believed that strength should always be used to protect, never to intimidate. That lesson reflects the true spirit of karate.
As her father and instructor, I cherish the memories of watching her grow—not only in technique, but in character. Those moments remain among the greatest blessings of my life.
Today, as I walk through Japan, the birthplace of many martial traditions, I carry Sima's memory with me. Every lesson I learn, every friendship I make, and every student I teach is, in part, a tribute to her and to her mother.
Their lives continue through the values they embraced: Respect. Courage. Compassion. Learning. Service.
Sima, your smile, your laughter, and your spirit remain forever in our hearts.
May your memory continue to inspire us to live with kindness, stand up for others, and make the world a better place.
