🌿🌱🌳We welcome you to join us for a community restoration session and a free weaving workshop on invasive species.

Saturday, April 11TH || 11am – 2pm CDT

Audubon Great Lakes' Wild Indigo Nature Explorations, along with Artist Cori Lin, invite you to an educational experience to learn mitigation techniques of invasive species in Illinois, including phragmites and buckthorn, and how we can creatively utilize these plant materials.

This workshop is a great introduction to conservation, weaving, and a chance to connect with the land, our individual cultures, while also fostering curiosity about environmental and bird advocacy.

⭐️☃️❄️Hello! We’re excited to invite all community members to the upcoming gathering. We’ll be meeting at the Vodak Library on Saturday, December 13th, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, where we'll offer a free sound bath and engaging art activities for everyone. Come on over, and let's spend some time together focusing on our wellness and mental health. It’s a wonderful chance to get to know each other and support one another. This year has shown us how powerful art and sound baths can be in helping us channel emotions and find wellness during challenging times. We truly hope to see you there! ❄️☃️⭐️

We wanted to extend an invite for my Trash Pickup event next Deadstick Pond on Saturday, November 15th from 9a-12pm CST. Feel free to share !!

Celebrate America Recycles Day by volunteering to pick up litter and trash at Deadstick Pond, where Audubon Great Lakes and the Chicago Park District are working with partners to restore 55 acres of wetland habitat.

The Calumet region here is critically important for birds because its wetlands serve as vital stopover points and breeding grounds. This event offers an opportunity for volunteers to visit the site, which is currently closed to the public, meet like-minded community members and help protect birds and other wildlife. Litter, including plastics, can pose a threat to birds and their safety. Removing trash helps keeps wildlife safe, and creates space for plants to grow so that vulnerable marsh birds like the Least Bittern can thrive!



All ages and experience levels are welcome at this free, family-friendly volunteer event. The event will take place outdoors. Dress warmly, wear comfortable shoes, long pants, and a long shirt. Bring your own water. Snacks and clean-up tools will be provided.

Nos complace anunciar una nueva oportunidad que se presentará este otoño e invierno. Animamos a todos los padres a que la consideren y animen a sus hijos a que presenten su solicitud. Si tienen alguna pregunta o inquietud, no duden en ponerse en contacto con nosotros. Estaremos encantados de ponernos en contacto con ustedes.

No se requiere experiencia ni currículum; estamos deseando ayudar a sus hijos a adquirir una valiosa experiencia. Si ya han enviado una solicitud, envíennos un mensaje para que podamos destacar el nombre de su hijo y proporcionar una revisión. Además, si desean adelantarse, podemos enviarles algunas preguntas de entrevista para ayudarles a practicar, especialmente si no tienen experiencia previa.

Estamos muy ilusionados por trabajar con los jóvenes y ofrecerles una experiencia de aprendizaje remunerada. Este programa solo se llevará a cabo dos días a la semana, los viernes y los sábados. Realizaremos varias excursiones y nos conectaremos virtualmente cuando sea necesario. Somos flexibles con los horarios de los jóvenes y podemos adaptarnos a sus necesidades.

Hello, everyone!

We are excited to announce a brand new opportunity happening this fall and winter. We encourage all parents to look into it and encourage your youth to apply. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. We’d be happy to connect with you.

No experience or resume is required; we are eager to help your youth gain valuable experience. If you have already submitted an application, please send us a message so we can highlight your child's name and provide a review. Additionally, if you'd like to get ahead of the game, we can send you some interview questions to help them practice, especially if they haven't had experience before.

We are excited to work with the youth and provide a paid learning experience. This program will only take place two days a week on Fridays and Saturdays. We will have several field trips and will connect virtually when needed. We are flexible with your youth's schedules and can accommodate their needs.

Join the 2024 Wild Indigo Explorers Internship to help build ecological awareness and introduce conservation practices to young adults from Chicago's south side. The program offers an 8-week educational session involving local stewardship activities, leadership development, and exposure to various environmental sectors. You'll be able to delve into diverse topics such as art, STEM, nature, environmental justice, migration, habitat restoration, water & air quality, and climate change awareness, making each day a new and exciting learning experience.
