We’re looking forward to 👔, which is coming up this Sunday, June 21! As always, it’s a time to honor the fathers, partners, grandfathers, and caregivers who help families thrive.

Want to honor your own dad? Making a contribution to MACA to provide support and care to families in need is a great way to honor his legacy and pay it forward.

Your gift to Mother & Child Alliance supports programs that connect families affected by HIV and other perinatal health challenges with the care, resources, and support they need. Together, we can strengthen families, improve health outcomes, and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

This past weekend, our exec director Anne Statton participated in the Wilmette Open Water Swim, aka The WOW Race, as part of her training for this year’s with TEAM TO END AIDS (T2 CHICAGO).

Swimming is one of the three triathlon components, along with biking and running. So Anne plunges into a variety of swim events in the run-up to the big event each year, in addition to training with teammates and friends.

The WOW Race is itself a fundraiser, with all proceeds supporting the Ouilmette Foundation’s mission to educate, enhance and enrich local parks and community life.

Meanwhile, Anne’s Triathlon campaign is raising funds to help MACA continue providing life-changing support to moms with HIV, and keep newborns healthy across Illinois.

Summer weather has arrived in Illinois! To celebrate, here’s a favorite drawing called “Picture of Summer” that was created a few years ago by Darren, one of the sons of our senior perinatal data manager Iyesha. It’s a tropical-themed tour de force, complete with coconuts, seashells, and a dancing crab! 🥥 🐚 🦀

Our exec director Anne Statton’s birthday 🎈is coming up on June 10 — and there’s still time to help us celebrate by chipping in to her fundraiser for this year’s . Anne will once again be swimming, biking, and running as part of TEAM TO END AIDS (T2 CHICAGO) to raise funds for MACA.

Donations to this fundraiser will not just help make Anne’s birthday brighter, but also brighten the lives of the moms and families that MACA supports. Your gift will help us connect MACA moms with expert care and much-needed resources, while protecting newborns across Illinois from HIV and preventable perinatal infections.

Anne is already training hard for this year’s Triathlon! Here are a few pics of Anne from previous years’ events and training.

As part of the campaign, there will be a candlelight vigil at the Keith Haring Statue in the Chicago AIDS Garden. The event will take place this Friday, June 5, from 7:30 pm to sunset.

This is a nonpartisan community gathering for all who are concerned about the impact of the recent federal healthcare cuts on our neighbors, families, and loved ones.

From every corner of the country, communities will gather at sunset to honor the lives already lost and the millions more at risk if funding isn’t restored.

June 5 also marks 45 years since the first reported cases of what became known as AIDS, a reminder of what happens when government fails to act.

We’re supporting the Seven Days in June campaign — a national call to elevate health as a governing priority, with events taking place June 1–7.

Last year, Congress passed $1 trillion in healthcare cuts — with the most severe human and economic impact happening later this year. These cuts will have a disproportionate effect on people with HIV, among other vulnerable groups.

By the numbers: $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts =

• 15 million people losing coverage.
• 446 hospitals at risk of closing.
• 51,000 preventable deaths every year.

It’s simple: We all need convenient, affordable, high-quality healthcare. This isn’t a partisan issue — it’s our primary concern. $1 trillion in healthcare cuts will hurt.

Let Congress know how you feel. Stand with us and fight back.
