Our midterm outreach program at the Sub-Divisional Hospital Mutengene was a success! In line with World Environment Day on June 5th, we hosted a workshop on refuse management around hospital premises. The date was especially significant, it marked not only a global call to environmental action but also the birthday of WHP’s founder, a tradition we honor every year with a meaningful community project.

We were thrilled to have over 65 participants, including hospital staff, patients, and student nurses. The interactive session was well received, and our donation of trash cans was appreciated. The hospital expressed a heartfelt request for an incinerator to improve waste disposal, which WHP will take into thoughtful consideration.

This initiative reflects the mission of Wholesome Health Promotion (WHP) to empower communities through health education, sustainable solutions, and inclusive engagement. We believe real change starts with awareness and action at the grassroots level.

Stay tuned to this space (Facebook & Instagram) for updates on our 2025 project, and be part of the journey toward healthier, more informed, and empowered communities.

🌍 It’s time for our mid-year project at Wholesome Health Promotion and this year, we’re proud to align our efforts with World Environment Day! 🌿

We’re on-site at the Subdivisional Hospital Mutengene for an impactful workshop on hospital refuse management. Together with healthcare staff and stakeholders, we’re discussing sustainable practices to reduce waste and protect our environment.

As part of our commitment, we’re also donating trash bins to help keep the hospital grounds clean, safe, and green. 💚🗑️ Because a healthier environment means healthier communities.

WHP ORGANIZES FOOD POISONING AWARENESS & PREVENTION WORKSHOP IN BUEA

Prior to unveiling its borehole at the Buea Integrated Health Center, the Chicago-based nonprofit organization, Wholesome Health Promotion, (WHP), organized a workshop on food poisoning awareness at the Buea Mountain Hotel on Thursday, December 7, 2023.

The interactive and very engaging workshop was attended by 55 enthusiastic participants who included members from the Buea Council Sanitation Department, the Director of the Buea Women's Empowerment Center, and the Director of the Buea Town Integrated Health Center.

The workshop was facilitated by Terese Tande, WHP founder, and Herman Ekwalla, WHP’s Director of Operations & Projects, Cameroon.

During the session, participants discussed what exactly was food poisoning, what were its causes and symptoms and ways to prevent it. The key message was that food poisoning is a foodborne illness caused by consuming contaminated food or drink or a toxin or poison in food. The presenters stressed that this was typically not due to a malicious act but most often due to avoidable things such as not cooking food properly before eating, not washing your hands before eating or eating food that was improperly stored or preserved.

Participants left the workshop armed with vital and lifesaving knowledge to help spread the word about food poisoning, which has resulted in a disturbing number of deaths across Cameroon in recent years.

Last Friday, December 8, 2023, Wholesome Health Promotion (WHP) unveiled its 10,000 liter-capacity water borehole donation to the Buea Town Integrated Health Center. The colorful ceremony was attended by traditional and administrative authorities, along with local cultural groups and the public.

The borehole will help mitigate recurrent water shortages at the center. It will also serve the neighboring communities and schools thanks to taps that have been installed outside of the center premises.

Thank you to our donors and team WHP for their hard work.

Borehole #3 ✅️

What's next? WHP is ready for 2024❤️
