Depaul USA Depaul USA is a non-profit agency serving the homeless in 12 cities throughout the U.S.

The Dax Program began by matching homeless and housing insecure students with host families. Today, Depaul USA also operates two Dax Houses to address students’ immediate crises of homelessness by providing stable and safe housing. The Dax Program provides students with various services that support a successful path toward the continuation and completion of their studies. These include:

In 2025, NYC Dax collaborated with Broadridge Financial Solutions to develop a professional mentorship program that addresses the gaps in social networks between students and their peers who have had organic opportunities to develop professional connections. Mentors at Broadridge review student resumes, host seminars, and help students prepare to enter their careers.

In 2025, Depaul USA collaborated with Depaul International, Depaul UK, and Depaul Ireland, to develop Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) training for staff, to meet participants where they are, and empower them to lead lives aligned with their values and goals. This year, staff will begin receiving ACT training nationwide!

In 2025, Old First House case manager, Kelsey Tagg (with the generous support of the Sarah Ralston Foundation,) developed a Horticultural Therapy pilot, and now a handbook to replicate the initiative across Depaul USA locations. Horticulture Therapy, which can include preparing soil for seeds, watering garden beds, or other gardening activities, facilitates mindful engagement while also encouraging interaction between participants.
