Back in January of this year, we were honored to be named a "2026 Make It Better Philanthropy Award” winner by Make It Better Foundation! ⭐

The Make It Better Philanthropy Award recognizes organizations that strengthen families, empower communities, and create lasting change. We were incredibly excited to receive a generous donation of $25,000 to support our work to bring free groceries, mental wellness and social service support to Chicago families. We couldn’t do it without our philanthropic community.

What a fun night at Wrigley! ⚾️💙

We are incredibly grateful to Cubs Charities (Cubs Charities) for inviting Nourishing Hope to the annual Neighbor Night on Tuesday! Our staff had an absolute blast playing catch and yard games out on the field, enjoying hot dogs, and soaking up the sunshine. ☀️🌭

We truly appreciate the chance to connect, have fun, and celebrate the incredible people who help us make a difference in our neighbors’ lives every day. 

 Thank you for a memorable night, Cubs Charities! 🧢🏟️

Every volunteer helps make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors. 💙💚 We are incredibly grateful to volunteers from one of our special donors, Erie Family Health Centers, who joined us at El Mercadito on Thursday to pack 7️⃣5️⃣ bags of essential dairy products for our neighbors and helped guide shoppers through our walk-in pantry.

A heartfelt thank you as well to volunteers from McDonald's Corporate headquarters in Chicago, who visited our headquarters and helped prepare 1️⃣4️⃣0️⃣ orders for neighbors receiving food through our Online Market, along with making additional boxes for future orders. Our Online Market helps us meet neighbors where they are while reducing barriers to accessing nutritious, delicious food. 🥕🍎

Together, we’re providing food for today and hope for tomorrow!

We’re in the home stretch! Part 3️⃣ of our mural updates with Anthony Lewellen (Anthony Lewellen) at Nourishing Hope’s Sheridan Market location! 🎨

Lewellen has completed much of the mural and is putting the finishing touches on the remaining details this week. Titled “Radiating Hope,” the mural tells the story of Nourishing Hope and the community we serve through depictions of neighbors receiving food, a mental health support group, the vibrant Lakeview neighborhood and so much more.

Every detail brings the story to life, celebrating connection, community and the many ways hope takes shape at Nourishing Hope. We’re so excited to see Lewellen’s vision come together - and even more excited to share the finished mural with our neighbors!

At 70, Valerie has faced years of housing instability and recently lost access to SNAP benefits, but at Nourishing Hope’s Sheridan pantry, she’s found more than “delicious” food, she’s found community.

A mother and great-grandmother, Valerie does everything she can to care for her family. Her faith has been a constant source of strength, she says. As the daughter of a pastor, she says her love for God and her family have kept her going.
At Nourishing Hope, she’s found a welcoming place where she feels supported, valued, and never ashamed to ask for help.
“I had to learn so many things when I first got into this line, and I was like, ‘This is nothing to be ashamed about.’ It’s something that God is providing, and you can’t just do it yourself,” Valerie says.

There’s nothing like coming together to make a difference for our neighbors! 🥕🥦A huge thank you to the University of Michigan-Flint Alternative Summer Break Program students and representatives from Chicagoland Calvin Klein () stores for volunteering at Nourishing Hope’s headquarters on Wednesday.

Together, these dedicated volunteers packed 275 boxes of fresh produce to help meet the immediate needs of families in our community. We are grateful for their time and efforts to nourish our neighbors! Those boxes mean more fresh, nutritious food reaching families across our community - and one less thing for our neighbors to worry about.

We’re so grateful to these dedicated volunteers, and to everyone who gives their time, resources and support to make this work possible. Together, we’re providing food for today and hope for tomorrow. ❤️

I spy a mural coming up at Sheridan Market! 🎨Part 2️⃣ of our mural updates with Anthony Lewellen (!) at Nourishing Hope’s Sheridan Market location.

With the logo mark underway, Lewellen is working on some of the community vignettes that represent our diverse neighbor, volunteer, and donor community.

We were happy to be part of this year’s National Night Out in Roseland, where we donated water and snacks to help support a community gathering that brought neighbors together.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the event possible. We’re grateful for every opportunity to partner with organizations, community leaders, and residents to strengthen our neighborhoods and connect people with the resources they need.

Sheridan Market is getting a makeover! 🖌️💥 Muralist Anthony Lewellen has been busy creating “Radiating Hope,” a new mural on the south-facing wall at our Sheridan Market location.

Rooted in Chicago's Northwest Side, Lewellen creates bold, narrative-driven artwork inspired by the people, places and culture that define our city.
