Dreams for Kachra Kundi
Location: Karachi, Pakistan
Description: School for 500+ students, 30+ teachers
Background: After visiting Kachra Kundi in 2011 (Karachi's largest garbage dump site) we felt compelled to make a difference for these villagers. In 2012, we finished the construction of a brand new school for these children hoping it will give them a way out of poverty. In 2014, we have a total of 15 classrooms with the goal to complete 5 more by 2015. Konadu Basic School
Location: Tanoboase, Ghana
Description: Free school for 100+, employ 8 teachers. We are looking to add an agricultural venture in 2015 to provide vocational opportunities to women in the village. Background: We met the founder and principal of this school in 2013 though a friend in the peace corps. When we met Clement (the visionary behind this project) he told us of his dream. This was to build a free school for the children who were left out of the Ghana Educational Service. Today, the Konadu Basic School is a polished academy and is quickly rising to become a state of the art educational institution in Ghana. Fatama Maternity Center
Location: Blama Perri, Sierra Leone
Description: A maternity and general healthcare center serving Blama and surrounding districts. Background: We learned of this village through a friend at the Trinity United Methodist Church who had recently visited the country. Hearing his story, we immediately joined hands to find out how we could help this community progress. Blama had been burned to the ground during the 11 year civil war and we wanted to help bring it light. After some research we found that Sierra Leone had the highest maternal mortality rate in the world. Villagers also requested a healthcare facility as the dirt roads cut them off from many needs such as this. In April of 2014 we completed the facility. Today, we see an average of 300 patients monthly of all ages and continue to delivery many healthy babies! Our work impacts more than +20,000 people.
