Fundraising has officially begun for our 2026 You Matter: Youth Empowerment Day Annual Event, supporting youth ages 12–18 as they build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and find their voice through storytelling, reflection, and creative expression.

This annual experience creates space for young people to feel seen, supported, and empowered while learning tools that support emotional wellness and resilience.

This Giving Tuesday, I’ve been reflecting on the work we’re doing through One Purpose Love — work rooted in care, dignity, and showing up for youth and families across the South Suburbs.

And I want to share what gives me hope.

Every week, I see young people learning emotional awareness, practicing coping skills, discovering their voices, and stepping into leadership. I see mothers and fathers trying their best. I see communities quietly holding one another up. And I’m reminded that hope doesn’t always arrive loudly — sometimes it shows up in small, consistent acts of care.

That’s why this season matters.

Right now, as families face rising food costs, instability, and the emotional strain that comes with both, simple support can make a real difference. Through One Purpose Love’s youth programs and pantry partnerships, we’ve committed to meeting basic needs and nurturing mental well-being — because you can’t pour into the mind when the stomach isn’t fed.

But change doesn’t happen on its own — it takes consistency, compassion, and community.

This week, One Purpose Love is assembling a youth-centered donation for our local food pantry, which serves more than 300 families in the Southland community.

Our goal is to provide items that are kid-friendly, easy to prepare, and supportive of youth who may need quick meals or snacks before school, after school, or on weekends.

🥫 Feeding Families With Purpose — Launching Next Monday

Starting next Monday, One Purpose Love NFP is launching a new effort to support our local food pantry.

Each week, we’ll shop in bulk at Sam’s Club using our nonprofit tax-exempt status and deliver food to the pantry on Tuesdays, just in time for their Wednesday family distribution.

To kick things off, One Purpose Love is donating $500 worth of food for the first delivery.
Our goal is to keep this going every week — feeding families through the power of community giving.

One Purpose Love Receives 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Status

Olympia Fields, Illinois — One Purpose Love is proud to announce that it has been officially recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This milestone affirms the organization’s mission to strengthen community wellness through youth mental health, storytelling, and civic engagement.

With this designation, all contributions to One Purpose Love are now tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. The recognition also expands opportunities for grant funding, partnerships, and donor support, enabling the organization to broaden its reach and deepen its impact across the South Suburbs and beyond.

Join us in welcoming Gail Akins. Her Youth Empowerment Day workshop this Saturday, “Coping Kits,” reflects her personal life. Through every area of schooling in her life, from early childhood education to graduate school, she went through life-changing experiences that she was prepared for. To protect her mental health and keep going, Gail had to create her coping kits full of ways to handle different situations. Her workshop will equip the youth with various tools to prepare them for life experiences they may face in or out of school. By the time they leave, they should be able to fill out their personal tool kits and share what they learned with someone else who may need them.
