🍃NEW LAUNCH - HERBAL MUTUAL AID APOTHECARY🍃
As many know, for years, The Honeycomb Network held space through a community apothecary in Humboldt Park up until summer 2025.

After moving from the physical location we thought deeply about how to transition the offerings in order to continue providing the care to our community. Today, that work is taking a new form.

We are honored to launch the Community Herbal Mutual Aid Apothecary, which is a healing justice initiative connecting Chicago (Humboldt Park, Englewood), and Puerto Rico through herbal medicine, mutual aid, land stewardship, and collective care.

Together with Patchwork Farms + Sistas in the Village, as well as land stewards, grassroots partners, volunteers, and neighbors, we are creating free seasonal herbal care packs, community medicine-making gatherings, and a sustainable model of accessible herbal care rooted in reciprocity and solidarity.

This summer, our pilot aims to:

🌿 Create 100 Community Herbal Care Packs
🌿 Support 4 neighborhood distribution sites
🌿 Host community medicine-making gatherings
🌿 Raise funds to support two seasons of herbal mutual aid care
🌿 Lay the foundation for a future mobile herbal clinic and community herbal care collective

Our communities have always carried knowledge, remedies, skills, and traditions that helped us survive and thrive. This initiative honors those traditions while building new possibilities for collective wellbeing.

As we transition into a Chicago ↔ Puerto Rico model, we are intentionally cross-pollinating relationships, plants, stories, and healing practices across communities.

Before we pathologize ourselves, what if we asked: What have I had to adapt to?

We’re honored to introduce “Dr. Mac”, aka Dr. Crystal McDonald, one of our trusted therapy partners through Living in Empathy Therapy Collective.

Dr. Mac’s work is rooted in the understanding that our emotional patterns don’t develop in isolation. The families, cultures, communities, workplaces, and systems we move through shape how we relate to ourselves and others. Rather than asking “What’s wrong with you?” her approach invites the question, “What happened, and how have you learned to survive it?”

Through trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and relational care, she supports clients in reconnecting with their voice, honoring the wisdom of their adaptations, and exploring new ways of being that feel more aligned and sustainable.

✨ Special areas of focus:
• Emotional trauma & healing
• Attachment wounds & relationships
• Workplace stress & burnout
• Identity exploration
• Nervous system awareness & stress held in the body
• Men’s mental health
• BIPOC and biracial experiences
• Creatives, entrepreneurs, and professionals seeking deeper emotional connection and balance SELF-TRUST.

If you’ve been looking for a therapist who honors both your individual story and the larger systems that have shaped it, we invite you to learn more. LINK IN BIO🔗

🪞💛The Ta**us new moon arrives as an invitation into embodiment, self-worth, beauty, slowness, and grounded becoming.

We have been discussing and thinking deeply about mirror work lately. While some may look at this as vanity, we see it through the lens of spirituality, nervous system healing, and ritual. As a deepening practice of self love and acceptance.

In psychology and neuroscience, practices involving repeated compassionate self-language and visualization can help reshape internal narratives, regulate stress responses, and create new neural associations around self-perception. The nervous system responds to repetition, especially when voice, gaze, and emotion are involved.

Long before “mindset work” became trendy, many spiritual traditions understood reflection as sacred.

In a teaching shared by Joseph Baba Ifa, the Orisha Oshún’s mirror is described as far more than adornment or vanity. The mirror becomes an introspection for accountability. + transformation. A relationship with destiny and spirit.

We are thinking about Oshún looking into the river each morning and recognizing both where she was and where she desired to grow toward. This is the work.

🪞During this new moon energy, try mirror work. May your reflection become a site of compassion, and a spiritual conversion between your past, present & future, instead of a critique. 🥰

🧠Mental Health May🧠 Research shows that bilateral rhythm helps the brain process trauma. EMDR offers a structured, clinical pathway for supporting the brain in reprocessing what has been held, or stuck.

But this is not new technology. Across Indigenous and African diasporic history + cultures, bilateral rhythm has long been used to regulate the body, move emotion, and restore connection through drum, movement, breath, and voice.

While these are not the identical practices, they share patterns and shed light on ancestral knowledge and brilliance.

If you are interested in exploring the deep work of EMDR in therapy to support you moving forward from trauma blockages, we have a beautiful collective of partnered therapists specializing in this framework.

✨Astro Chat circle with our Astro-psychologist Celine!✨Facing the shadows. 👤
This past Saturday we sat with the energy of the Scorpio full moon and everything it’s been pulling to the surface.

What came up in the circle:

🌌 old patterns resurfacing (even the ones we thought we moved through), emotional residue, frustration, and feeling “stuck” while craving change

🌌 the truth that healing isn’t linear, it’s cyclical, repetitive, and deeply human and the work of cutting energetic ties + facing what we’ve been avoiding

We also explored the bigger shifts unfolding right now:
✨ a collective transition out of old timelines and into something new
✨ Uranus in Gemini initiating a 7-year cycle of change in how we think, speak, and express
✨ the invitation to use our voice more authentically without over-perfection or self-censorship

If you missed it, the full conversation is available at the link in bio.🔗

🌿March Herbal Study Circle 🌿

Our next HIERBA BUENA study group explores the Allium family 🧅 (the onion plants many of us cook with every day.)

Examples include:

🍃Garlic.
🍃Onions.
🍃Leeks.
🍃Chives.
🍃Shallots.

These bulbs have been used across cultures for thousands of years for nourishment, protection, and healing.

In this study circle we’ll explore:

• the medicine of the onion family
• their cultural and folk uses
• the energetics of pungent, warming plants
• our collective memories of cooking and healing with them

Bring an Allium plant if you have one, or simply come with your curiosity. We will share information on garlic.

The kitchen has always been a pharmacy.🌿

🧠Monday Mental Health - Lunar Eclipse Edition 🌒

When the world feels like it’s unraveling through war, bombardment, crumbling systems, and chaos on every screen, the nervous system can only take so much.

In last month’s Astro Hour, our astro-psychologist Celine Khalife , MA, NCC, LPC, offered this reminder:

“Lock arms. Lock in.”

💫Find your communities of care.
💫Know you don’t have to do everything.

During times of disruption, overwhelm is inevitable, It’s a human response to collective stress. The antidote isn’t isolation, it’s connection, discernment, and tending to your capacity and courage.

Our monthly Astro Hour conversations are full of grounded, practical wisdom for navigating moments exactly like this one.
