The Witch Project: A Wildcats Night to Kick Off Halloween!

💜 Did you know The Rock has been part of Northwestern history for more than 120 years?

The six-foot quartzite boulder arrived on campus as a gift from the Class of 1902 and originally served as a fountain. What began decades later with students painting it eventually became one of Northwestern’s most beloved traditions.

Since then, generations of Wildcats have added layer after layer of paint — so many, in fact, that Northwestern University Archives preserves a cross-section of those colorful layers as a piece of university history.

Recently, the Northwestern University Club of Chicago got to add our own layer. 💜

It was a pretty special feeling to leave our mark on a tradition that connects generations of Wildcats.

The paint may change, but the Wildcat connection stays.
