The Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity, through the Latino Business Colectivo, has launched the Shop & Support Latin@ Businesses campaign! We're using it as a chance to spotlight Latin@-owned businesses across our Business Development Organization (BDO) network. 🛍️🏡

Northwest Side Community Development Corporation supports commercial corridors on Northwest Side and in Belmont Cragin, preserving affordable housing, preventing displacement, and helping small businesses grow.

➡️ Swipe to meet some local businesses, and let us know what Latin@ business you'll be supporting!

LISC is celebrating 26 years of impactful partnership with State Farm!

Together, we’ve worked to transform communities across the country by connecting people with the opportunities they need to thrive. Over the last nearly three decades, this collaboration has helped:

🏠 Build and preserve over 91K affordable homes
💼 Support 11,800 local businesses
🏗️ Develop 27.8M sq. ft. of community and commercial space (including schools, health centers, and grocery stores)
🌱 Support 285,700 people to improve their incomes, savings and long-term financial outlook

And we aren’t stopping there. We're thrilled to announce that State Farm is continuing its long-time commitment to our mission with a new $1.8M grant.

Twenty years ago, Hoops in the Hood set out to give youth across Chicago’s South and West Sides a place to compete, grow, and belong. This year’s Citywide Championship at Seward Park showed what that investment looks like two decades later: 10 organizations brought teams across 4 divisions, with families, friends, and coaches cheering courtside.

We were proud to recognize State Farm at this year’s Championship with an award celebrating their partnership and commitment to our communities.

Edwin and Diego grew up together on the basketball court.

Through Hoops in the Hood, these brothers have spent years competing, learning from coaches and mentors, and building bonds with youth from neighborhoods across Chicago. Playing through New Life Centers, they found discipline, confidence, and a community on and off the court. Today, they're paying it forward by encouraging friends and neighbors to join.

For 20 years, Hoops in the Hood has created positive, safe spaces for over 30,000 young people just like Edwin and Diego to play, connect and grow.

Every Chicago neighborhood carries the fingerprints of policy decisions, fights someone had to win, and investments that landed. Or didn’t.

We're celebrating 20 years of Hoops in the Hood by throwing back to some of our favorite moments over the years 🏀

What started in 2006 as a neighborhood basketball initiative for Chicago youth has grown into a long-running citywide program led by trusted community organizations and supported by LISC and State Farm.

Basketball has the power to bring people together while creating safe, positive spaces for Chicago's youth. 🙌
