Make sure you save some room for dessert at !

This year’s sweet treats come from two incredible women-owned businesses that are turning passion into opportunity. We are so proud to have both as valued partners in LISC’s Business Development Organization (BDO) network.

🍰 Normita’s Conchas founder Norma Renteria blends her culinary training and Mexican heritage to create traditional pan dulce with a modern twist, all while building a business that allows her to pursue her passion and make time for her family.

🍰 Urban Tables founder Autumn Williams transformed her hobby of cooking for her neighbors into a thriving catering company. Today, Urban Tables caters for businesses and nonprofits across Chicago while creating opportunities for others along the way.

Join us in celebrating these entrepreneurs at the 32nd Annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards on June 25!

After months of planning, community conversations, and work happening behind the scenes, Cook County Arts Creative Placemaking grantees gathered last month for the cohort’s final learning circle. Organizations from across suburban Cook County shared updates on their projects, talked through the work happening in their communities, and connected with peers 🎨

It was exciting to hear how projects continue moving forward as more sites begin taking shape this summer. Through technical assistance and peer learning opportunities, LISC is proud to support grantees throughout the process.

Designed with the local Puerto Rican community in mind, this affordable housing development serves as both a cultural anchor and a vital source of housing for families.

We’re just a few weeks away from the 32nd Annual CNDAs, and we’re taking a moment to recognize some of the people and organizations helping make this celebration possible.

Today, we’re giving a shoutout to our Volume 10 sponsors for their generous support, along with the talented DJ Lady D (Chicago) and the amazing team at 5 Rabanitos catering. Thank you for helping us celebrate the people and projects making a difference across Chicago’s neighborhoods.

We can’t wait to see everyone on June 25!

For 20 years, Hoops in the Hood has brought basketball, mentorship, and community programming to neighborhoods across Chicago each summer 🏀

What started in 2006 as a neighborhood basketball initiative has grown into a long-running citywide program led by trusted community organizations and supported by LISC and State Farm®. Hoops in the Hood has long answered the request of Chicago youth for positive, safe places for youth to play and connect. More than 30,000 youth have participated over the past two decades, taking part in organized leagues, community events, and the annual citywide championship while building relationships both on and off the court.

The program continues creating positive spaces for young people through sports, neighborhood leadership, and community connection during the summer months. This season, teams from 10 Chicago neighborhoods will participate as Hoops in the Hood celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Last year, the For-Profit Real Estate Development Award went to the Foglia Residences at the The Chicago Lighthouse, an innovative affordable housing development for blind and visually impaired residents.
