This morning we woke up to heartbreaking news from the Chabad Menorah lighting in Bondi, Australia. Among those murdered was my dear colleague, Rabbi Eli Schlanger הי״ד. We pray for the wounded and for all who are suffering from this horrific act of hatred.

Tonight we light one small flame. It may feel tiny against the darkness, yet this is the message of Chanukah: light doesn’t fight darkness, it simply shines… and the darkness retreats.

Here in Norwood Park, we’re working closely with police and security, and every Chanukah event will go on as planned. This year must be bigger, stronger, and brighter.

Rabbi Schlanger taught: “Be more Jewish. Act more Jewish. Appear more Jewish.”
They spread fear, we answer with light.
They bring darkness, we respond with mitzvot.

Do one mitzvah. One act of kindness. One more flame. Darkness cannot withstand increasing light.

If you know someone in Chicago who needs a menorah, help them get one—let another light shine in memory of those who cannot light this year.

May Hashem protect His people and bring the day when we will all light the menorah together in peace with the coming of Moshiach.

🚨 Field trip alert! 🚨

As we journey through different mitzvahs at JUDA, we recently learned about the mitzvah of Kosher.

To bring this to life, on Sunday JUDA took a trip to Illinois Nut & Candy! We found kosher symbols on all the packages in the store!

They have us a tour and we got to make a chocolate bar from the original ingredients, as well as a bunch of chocolate covered treats to take home!

It was delicious!

Purim in the Shtetl was 🔥! Thank you all for joining!

We had to stop with the pictures once Shabbat started, but here's a snap glimpse of the awesomeness!

We said l'chaim, we enjoyed delicious food and celebrated together with a crowd of almost 70!
