Trader Joe’s is one step closer to Lincolnwood.

Permits have been filed for 6191–93 N. Lincoln (store #860), and after months of rumors, it’s now moving forward — they went before the Village today for final approvals.

The space is expected to be about 12,500 square feet, right in line with a standard Trader Joe’s.

For many nearby, this is a big deal — Trader Joe’s carries a wide variety of unique kosher products you usually have to travel for.

The Wittenberg Matzoh Co. was a pioneering Jewish-owned bakery in Chicago, Illinois, active from the late 19th to early 20th century. Founded by Levy Wittenberg in 1885, it became one of the city's earliest producers of kosher matzoh, symbolizing the growth of Chicago's Jewish community and its food industry.

Levy Wittenberg, born in Russia in 1850, immigrated to the United States in 1880 and settled in Chicago by the mid-1880s. He established the Wittenberg Matzoh Company at 1326 South Jefferson Street, producing traditional unleavened bread central to Passover observance. The company was formally incorporated in 1901 as L. Wittenberg Company with a capital of $10,000, a substantial investment for its time. Dr. Loi's Joumal

Operating under the "Eatmore Matzoh" brand, the bakery produced thousands of pounds of matzoh annually. The facility's kosher-for-Passover baking was carried out on the upper floors of the building, with retail operations below. As demand increased, the company expanded its production to nearby Maxwell Street, a hub of Jewish commerce and culture in early 20th-century Chicago.

Mazal tov to the Lipson family on the official acquisition of Bsari Burger Bar!

This family duo, known and loved for their incredible service and food at Crunch and Smoke by Crunch, are now taking the next step as owners of Bsari.

Under the Lipsons, Bsari has built a strong name for its smash burgers, sandwiches, and crispy Cluck Bites, and we’re excited to see what the Lipsons bring to the table.

Wishing them much hatzlacha in this new chapter — and always great to see continued growth in our local kosher food scene!

Purim in West Rogers Park had some great food this year.

Artisan Slice was out making fresh pizzas on the spot for the community, along with mozzarella sticks, fries, and dessert waffles. Everything was coming out hot and fresh and people were lining up throughout the day.

Owner Zalman Feldman mentioned that their Sicilian-style vodka pie, finished with fresh basil and garlic oil, was the one everyone kept asking for — most of them didn’t last long once they hit the table.

Nice to see the WRP community enjoying Purim together.
