What a great May Meeting, celebrating Mother’s Day and Crowning the Blessed Mother. Our hat contest was a huge success and the food from Palermo’s was spectacular. Thank you to all who put so much in to making it a beautiful evening.

In Italian families, the malocchio isn’t superstition — it’s awareness.

The evil eye. A jealous glance. Too much praise without protection. A look that lingers just a second too long. Nonna noticed it before you did.

That’s why babies wore tiny charms. Why someone would suddenly whisper a prayer. Why a cornicello hung quietly near the door, never bragging, just doing its job.

The malocchio wasn’t about fear. It was about balance.

It reminded us that not everyone celebrates your joy the way you do. That energy matters. That protection doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.

And even today, people who swear they don’t believe in it still won’t risk it. They’ll tap the charm. Make the sign. Say, “Just in case.”

Because some traditions survive for a reason.

If you grew up with the malocchio, you already know: You don’t have to believe in it… It believes in you.

Today is Italian Tricolour Day also known as Festa del Tricolor, a day to celebrate and honor the three colors of the Italian flag - green, white, and red. These colors have a rich history and symbolic meaning dating back to the Roman Republic. Green represents hope, white represents purity, and red represents the blood of martyrs. Let's take a moment to appreciate the cultural significance and beauty of the Italian flag on this special day. 🇮🇹🎉
