In March, we are sending a REAL International Solidarity Delegation to Palestine! Given that the cost of the trip will be prohibitive for our group without crowdfunded support, we are seeking to raise $10,000 to send seven members of REAL on a fully funded trip.

This opportunity will help formerly incarcerated young people and connected organizers build solidarity with Palestinian people resisting military occupation.

“Martin Luther King Was a Lawbreaker” by Martin Sostre

———

On the second anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s assassination, revolutionary anarchist and anti-imperialist political prisoner Martin Sostre wrote a tribute to Dr. King warning the people of the white power structure’s attempts to deradicalize and distort Dr. King’s legacy. Sostre writes that Dr. King was a revolutionary whose life was defined by militant acts of rebellion in the streets against white authority. Today, Sostre’s essay is as relevant as it was in 1970 with exploitative corporations, police departments, and prison administrations all celebrating Dr. King’s legacy despite working in total opposition to his revolutionary message. In resistance to this whitewashing of Dr. King’s legacy, in the words of Sostre, it is our duty to alert our people “to this plot for mass deception now being executed through the enemy’s controlled news media.” Dr. King was a rebel and revolutionary whose life was dedicated to fighting for the people in the streets against racism, capitalism, imperialism, police, and prisons. We honor Dr. King’s radical legacy by carrying on this struggle for liberation.

The above photos include excerpts from Sostre’s essay. Check the full essay below. Thank you so much to the Martin Sostre Institute for compiling and re-publishing this important essay in 2022.

Last week, we showed out to clemency hearings for comrades currently incarcerated at Stateville Prison.

We are grateful for our community who organized and showed up for this gathering. The hearings are dehumanizing in how they force people to justify their humanity to a panel of cops and prosecutors in order to possibly be offered a chance to return home.

By packing the room full of supporters, we showed the state that our comrades are not alone and the behavior of the prisoner review board is being watched by the people.
