Neighborhood friends: if you saw something or have footage, please contact CPD.

You cannot imagine the shock and horror that shook our family this weekend. Riding his scooter home from work Friday evening, our Axel was the victum of a hit and run at the interscection of Troy and Cullom at approximately 11:40PM.

After being treated at Swedish Covenent ER for extensive cuts and bruises to his body, he was transferred to Illinois Masonic Hospital to undergo orthopedic surgery for broken and fractured bones to his head and face. He was released yesterday and is resting comfortably at home with his family, and under the care of his long-term mate, Miriam, a registered nurse.

Needless to say, his family and friends have endured a huge scare and are so gratful that he is on the road to recovery! Of course, as is his nature, he is worried more about those around him than himself.

CAPS - 017th District Albany Park Safety for the 17th Chicago Police District is still investigating the incident. If anyone in the several block radius of Troy & Cullom has any video of Friday, August 23rd, 11:00PM - 12:00AM please DM us with any information. When it comes to a car vs cycle there is only one winner. Regardless of mistake or fault... a hit and run is never excusable!
