The highest-rated African American female chess player in history, y’all!

That’s not just a W, that’s a legacy move. She’s not just thinking five steps ahead on the board—she’s shifting the entire game for every little Black girl who’s ever been told “not you.”

Let this be a loud reminder: our minds are sharp, our vision is long, and we don’t need to ask for a seat at the table when we are the table.

Jessica, we see you making Black history look effortless and elite.

The system wasn’t built for us, but here we are—checkmating it anyway.

This Mother's Day, we at BWIS are proud to honor the dedicated parent mentors of District 88 by presenting them with appreciation gifts!

In case you didn’t know ! These amazing individuals tirelessly support our schools by volunteering inside the classroom working alongside teachers and uplifting our children, and we deeply value their commitment to our community. It is their hard work and unwavering passion that help create a nurturing and inspiring environment for our students.

Thank you to all the parent mentors for your dedication and love. Together, we are building a brighter future for our children!
