Today is the final day of my EverGreen Dreams’, annual week long March Into Empowerment fundraiser.

Thank you to everyone who stepped up this week to help cover the gaps—the everyday costs of college that tuition doesn’t address and financial aid rarely covers.

Because of you, students have textbooks. Meals. Transit passes. Technology. Personal necessities.

Real barriers, removed.

If you’ve been meaning to participate, today’s your last chance.

$10 - $100. Pick the amount that feels right. Every contribution makes an immediate difference.

March Into Empowerment ends tonight at midnight, but the impact of this community will carry students through the rest of the semester—and beyond.

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for refusing to accept that access alone is enough.

Today is the final day of March Into Empowerment.

Thank you to everyone who has stepped in to help cover the gaps this week.

Your support helps address the real costs of college—the ones that often determine whether a student persists or pauses.

If you’ve been planning to participate, today is the last opportunity.

We’re grateful for this community.

When we talk about covering the gaps, we’re talking about real, everyday needs.

Personal necessities.
Course materials.
Meals.
Transportation.
Technology.

Small amounts of support can remove immediate barriers—and create breathing room for students navigating college life.

That’s the heart of March Into Empowerment.

March Into Empowerment begins tomorrow. ...

March Into Empowerment begins tomorrow.

For one week, we’ll focus on covering the gaps that tuition and traditional aid often leave behind.

These are the costs that determine whether a student can stay focused on learning—or has to pause because of finances.

We hope you’ll follow along.

March Into Empowerment runs Monday, March 9 through Friday, March 13.

During that week, we’ll invite our community to support the real costs of college—books, transportation, meals, technology, and personal necessities.

This campaign is about access and persistence.
About making sure students can show up prepared, not just admitted.

We’ll share more soon.

March Into Empowerment begins next week.

From March 9–13, we'll be focused on covering the indirect costs of college—the expenses that quietly shape a student's ability to stay enrolled and succeed.
These aren't extras.

They're the everyday realities that tuition alone doesn't address.
We're sharing this now so our community understands what's coming—and why it matters.

Black women continue to pursue higher education at high rates—often while navigating disproportionate financial pressure, limited generational resources, and systemic gaps in support.

The challenge isn't aspiration.

It's access plus sustainability.

March Into Empowerment exists to help bridge that gap—so students aren't just admitted, but supported through the realities of college life.

Even sharing this campaign helps extend that support.

Community matters. Visibility matters. Persistence matters.

People often ask, "Does a small donation really make a difference?"

Yes—because indirect costs don't disappear just because they're smaller line items.

$10 helps cover personal necessities like laundry and toiletries.

$25 assists with school supplies or local transportation, such as notebooks, folders, or bus fare.

$50 helps offset academic or daily living costs, including textbook rentals, printing, or groceries.

These aren't extras. They're essentials.

When we cover the gaps together, students are better positioned to stay focused, prepared, and enrolled.

Tuition is only part of the story.

What often goes unseen are the indirect costs of college—textbooks, transportation, school fees, meals, and technology—that add up quickly and quietly.

These expenses are rarely fully covered by scholarships or financial aid. And for many students, especially Black women navigating higher education, they become the difference between persistence and pause.

This March 9th-13th, we're inviting our community to sponsor a cost—to help remove barriers that don't show up on a tuition bill but matter every single day.

02/10/2026

College acceptance is only the beginning.

For many students, the real challenge starts after the yes—when tuition is covered, but everything else isn't.

Books. Transportation. Meals. Technology. Personal necessities.
These are the costs that don't make headlines—but they determine whether a student can stay enrolled, show up prepared, and persist.

This year, our annual March Into Empowerment fundraiser (March 9th-March 13th) will be focused on covering the gaps that too often push students out.

Through our Sponsor-a-Cost giving menu, you can support the real, everyday expenses that make college possible—not just theoretical.

Cover the gaps.

Black History Month isn’t just reflection.
It’s instruction.

It shows us how laws, systems, and decisions have shaped who is protected, who is supported, and who is expected to carry more with less.

Black women have always pursued education as a path forward—often while being under-resourced, overlooked, and forced to finance opportunity through debt instead of investment.

That history is exactly why EverGreen Dreams exists.

Today, as Black History Month begins, the 2026 Building Opportunities for Sistas to Shine (B.O.S.S.) Scholarship application is officially open.

This is about honoring legacy and building what comes next—by supporting brilliance early, intentionally, and with care.

Can I be real with you for a second?

As a small nonprofit in our 5th year, here's what keeps me up at night:

One-time gifts are wonderful. Truly. We're grateful for every single donation.

But they're unpredictable.

Every January, I'm back to square one, wondering: Can we afford to offer 2 scholarships this year? Do we have enough for emergencies? What if a student needs help?

But when someone becomes a monthly or quarterly donor? Everything changes.

I can breathe. I can plan. I can say YES to opportunities instead of constantly saying "let me see if we have the funds."

When you commit to $10/month, the organization isn't just getting $120/year. It's getting PREDICTABILITY. It's getting the ability to PLAN. It's getting the confidence to GROW.

That's why we're asking for 30 recurring donors this Giving Tuesday.
Not because one-time gifts don't matter. They absolutely do.
But because 30 people (5 at each of 6 levels) committing to monthly or quarterly gifts literally transforms how we operate.

So if you've been thinking about it...

If you've been wondering "should I become a recurring donor?"

The answer is YES. Please.

Choose your level:
• $5, $10, $15, or $20/month
• Or $25 or $50/quarter

Whatever fits your budget.

Here's my truth: I give $5/month to three organizations, $10/month to two others, and $25/quarter to one more. I am a solopreneur whose monthly income fluctuates. If I can do it, you can too.

Make your giving automatic. Help EverGreen Dreams plan smarter. Help us support more scholars.

Thank you for even considering it.
With gratitude,
