LeNie Adolphson, the Vivian G. Harsh Society's 2024 Timuel D. Black Jr. Fellow, will discuss her research on the history of Provident Hospital using collections from the Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection of Afro-American History and Literature.

This lecture will examine the challenges of treating chronic illnesses while facing systemic discrimination and the herculean efforts at Provident to remain open and provide care to the most vulnerable, as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Black community.
