DMF IL: Meet our 3 beneficiaries for IL. Long post alert but I would really appreciate folks weighing in so our families know the support network they have just joined.
Please read a short synopsis about the battles for these 3 worthy families. Even if you can't attend the event you can help us relieve some of their burden. www.deniseflahertyfoundation.org click donate and put in the memo for IL beneficiaries. Or you can sponsor the event and attend. Help us help those in the fight.
Megan Peoplis - Referred by Tom and Julie Tarasiuk - A school teacher diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Megan was nominated and is known by many sponsors and committee members and is an excellent speaker. If you know wat Metastatic BC is then you know how serious and long term her battle will be, so her family will need support as she takes on this fight.
Giuliano Pacheco - Referred to us by RUSH Pediatric Oncology - 14.5 Years old diagnosed with ALL at 12.5 and completed all treatment, currently in remission (but will be monitored until 21 years old). During that year however, Tammy and German Pacheco (parents) also had a house fire and German (father) was in an auto accident causing missed work, thus financially devastating them and from which they are struggling to recover. Giuliano has three siblings and the family has moved 9 times in 2 years due to the fire and temporary housing. The debts incurred over the last two years while Giuliano was fighting and the subsequent challenges make them a worthy family.
Demarious Vaughn - Referred to us by RUSH Pediatric Oncology - 7 years old - diagnosed with ALL in February of 2022, Demarius was to receive the normal treatment for ALL (highly curable form of pediatric cancer), which is a spinal injection. This procedure was done incorrectly and subsequently Demarius cannot walk or urinate, and has remained in the hospital for 4 months. He is the son of a single Mom, Bonnette, who is a school teacher, but had to take FMLA to care for her son. Expenses far outweigh the income currently and communication was stunted because she had to apply for a state issued phone. Bonetta's two other children: an 8 year old son and an older boy.
