Has architecture lost its art? This Thursday October 16 at 11am CST online, we will explore just that!
Join us for LOST DESIGN | Purpose = Place, a virtual panel designed to bring our architectural and creative community together and reimagine how art and architecture shape the way we live, learn, and belong. This event was created to inspire and respond to emerging architects and students who have shared that their work feels less guided by art, intuition, and purpose than they once imagined. Together, we’ll explore how creativity and design can once again serve as tools for connection, imagination, and community.
Presented as part of South Side Sanctuary’s full weekend of Open House Chicago events in partnership with the Chicago Architecture Center, this conversation gathers influential voices shaping the future of design from different perspectives:
Ann Lui, Architect, Principal of Future Firm, and Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Michigan
Adam Rubin, Sr. Director of Public Engagement, Chicago Architecture Center
Jennifer Hughes, Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Former Director of Design and Creative Placemaking at the National Endowment for the Arts
Makafui Searcy, Founder and Executive Director, Fourtunehouse Arts Center
Ning Zhu, Associate Professor, School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, China
Moderated by Cecilia Cuff, Regenerative Development and Design Strategist, Loeb Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Founder of The Nascent Group
This conversation is part of a weekend of events hosted by South Side Sanctuary, a 13,000-square-foot cultural and green space on Chicago’s South Side dedicated to community-driven design, entrepreneurship, and the arts. Through panels, exhibitions, and activations, South Side Sanctuary invites everyone to join in, listen, and share in shaping what design means for our collective future.
