I want to take a moment to give a well-deserved shout out to the Black Researchers Collective.
Today, they hosted a powerful and engaging community conversation right here in Bronzeville, at Northwestern Memorial. The focus was centered on hearing directly from the community—lifting up the voices, ideas, and vision of residents, not only for the neighborhood as a whole, but specifically for what we want to see within the community space housed inside the Memorial Center.
It was truly a beautiful gathering. Neighbors and community members from across the district showed up, engaged, and contributed to a meaningful dialogue. Several elected officials were also in attendance, demonstrating a shared commitment to listening and building alongside the community.
Moments like this matter. Spaces where the community is not only heard, but centered, are critical to the work of building stronger, safer, and more connected neighborhoods.
Congratulations again to the Black Researchers Collective for hosting such an impactful event. We look forward to many more opportunities to build together.
