Over the weekend, Transforming Reentry Services (TRS) was proud to participate in the Annual C # BBQ, a meaningful event that brought together community members to celebrate resilience, fellowship, and second chances.

The C # community includes individuals who were once sentenced under Illinois laws that left them with uncertain or indeterminate release dates. Today, this annual gathering is a powerful reminder of the strength of community and the importance of continuing to support those impacted by the justice system.

Our Mobile Testing Van was on-site providing free, confidential HIV screening, while our outreach table offered:
✨Free socks
✨Safer s*x materials
✨ID restoration information
✨Food
✨Community resources and referrals

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to get tested, connect with our team, and learn more about the services TRS provides. Community events like these remind us that when we come together, we strengthen one another and create healthier, more connected neighborhoods.

We’re grateful to have been a part of this incredible event and look forward to continuing to serve our community.

🚨 Community Alert: Possible Opioid Overdose Spike in Chicago 🚨

The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) has reported a possible opioid overdose spike affecting the West Side and South Side of Chicago.

📍 Areas of concern:
• Madison St. to Jackson Blvd., from Pulaski Rd. to Sacramento Blvd.
• Roosevelt Rd. & Pulaski Rd.
• 87th St. & Cottage Grove Ave.

In the 24 hours leading up to June 30, 2026, EMS responded to 29 possible opioid-related overdoses, and the spike remains ongoing.

Please take precautions:
🩵 Carry naloxone (Narcan).
🩵 Never use alone.
🩵 Check in on loved ones and neighbors.
🩵 Share this alert with your community.
