A new national study reveals the significant burden of pediatric sepsis: nearly 1 in 5 pediatric hospital deaths in the U.S. involve sepsis.The findings emphasize the critical need for early recognition and targeted interventions in children.

This cohort study assesses US incidence, mortality, and trends of sepsis in nonneonatal children using a Pediatric Sepsis Event (PSE) definition adapted from the 2024 Phoenix criteria for scalable electronic health record (EHR)–based surveillance.

As you pack for , the NCC would like to provide a couple reminders regarding CE for maintenance certification. We can’t wait to see you there!

Helpful notes on using AWHONN convention CE:

1) NCC has reviewed and provided the maintenance codes for these AWHONN sessions. Use the coding provided by AWHONN to choose the CE appropriate for your NCC maintenance. DO NOT change the assigned codes when submitting your maintenance application! Submitted codes that are different than their assigned codes will trigger a maintenance audit and will not be accepted.

2) You can open and update your maintenance application during the meeting, enter the lecture, assigned code, and CE amount, or save your codes and enter them later. Remember to save your CE certificates, conference brochure, and session descriptions with objectives - they will be required in case of audit, reinstatement or alternative maintenance.

3) Check your education plan! It shows what specialty content areas need CE hours to maintain your NCC certification.
If you do not have an education plan - take your assessment.

4)Only CE earned after the assessment can be used to maintain.

5) Please do not use the NCC maintenance pre-approval process for these AWHONN lectures - they have already been coded for you.

This cohort study assesses the risk and incidence of preterm birth, pregnancy-associated hypertensive disorders, and other outcomes associated with an approved vaccine for respiratory syncytial virus administered during pregnancy.
