Logan Square Mutual Aid is conducting skills share sessions to help us raise funds to support our neighbors with groceries, daily essentials, and emergency aid.

A skills share is a class where a facilitator from the community teaches neighbors something new— like bike tune ups, indoor gardening, resume building, and more. Any and all skills are welcome! Skill shares are also an opportunity to build community, and meet and have fun with our neighbors.

As supporters remember, an encampment sweep was executed on June 12 at the Milwaukee and Logan encampment. Community supporters assisted some residents in moving to a new location in Avondale. The location was suggested to them by Ald. Quezada as a long-term safe space for residents displaced by the construction in Logan Square. Residents moved June 11 and on July 24, the Illinois Department of Transportation posted a 7 days notice that the new site will be closed and swept by July 30.

Our organizations condemn this sweep and ask— WHY ARE OUR NEIGHBORS BEING DISPLACED TWO MONTHS IN A ROW? Why must unhoused people live in constant fear of sweeps and seizures of their belongings? If unhoused folks cannot live in our parks, cannot live under our bridges, cannot live on our streets— Where can they?

While residents have relocated ahead of the July 30 sweep date, we are deeply concerned that they were left with a week notice to do so. Residents deserve more care, consideration, and options for housing. We demand better of our elected officials and we will continue to support unhoused residents in our neighborhood and beyond.

Drivers pick up groceries in Hermosa and deliver them to families in nearby neighborhoods. We are consistently struggling to get enough drivers for our 80+ weekly deliveries. Sign up if you can help, message us with any questions!

🌞 joyous reminder that there are opportunities to practice mutual aid in logan square every week this summer!

📆 our weekly schedule:
☎️ monday & tuesday: outreach
🍊 thursday: free store (4-7)
🛍️ friday: bag build (2-4)
🚙 saturday: delivery drivers (11-12:30) + free store (10-12:30)
🥬 sunday: farmer’s market rescue (2:30-4)
🍅 all week: food rescues

🔐 lock in baddies!! we are an all volunteer group of neighbors supporting one another, and we have been going strong for ~6 years. we always need more saturday drivers and hands at the farmers market in the summers.
