We are so grateful for partners who show up—not just with resources, but with their time, talents and hands. ❤️

More than 35 Target volunteers recently spent two days at Primo Center’s Englewood location transforming a classroom used by infants and preschoolers whose families are experiencing homelessness.

The Target Chicagoland Property Management team rolled up their sleeves, removed the existing flooring and installed new carpeting in our infant care area and new tile in our preschool space.

For the children we serve, a classroom is more than a room. It is a place to learn, play, feel safe and simply be a child while their parents work toward greater stability for their families.

And this isn’t Target’s first time showing up for Primo. Over the years, Target volunteers have helped revitalize our gardens, organize donations and improve spaces across our locations.

Thank you Target for continuing to invest in Primo Center and the families we serve—and thank you to The Citizen Newspaper Group for sharing this wonderful story with the community.

Thank you for hosting a powerful Mental Health First Aid Training session with Primo Center’s House and Case Managers.

And a special thank you to Gia Washington and Lisa Guardiola for leading thoughtful conversations about recognizing, understanding, and responding to mental health challenges.

For families and individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health support is often just as critical as housing itself. Equipping our staff with these tools helps us provide more compassionate, trauma-informed care and better support residents on their path toward stability.

Thank you for investing in our team and the people we serve.

A special thank you to our friends at Chicago HOPES for Kids! For years, their dedicated team has brought learning, encouragement, and stability to children living at Primo Center through afterschool and summer programs on our Englewood campus.

From tutoring and enrichment activities to the caring relationships they build with students, Chicago HOPES for Kids helps children experiencing homelessness gain confidence, stay engaged in learning, and see new possibilities for their future.

We are deeply grateful for their partnership and for the lasting difference they make in the lives of the children and families we serve every day.

For families experiencing homelessness, securing supplies for the upcoming school year can be a major source of stress.

That’s why we’re so grateful to our partners NAHSE Chicago for supporting Primo families during this back-to-school season. Volunteers donated and packed backpacks full of books and supplies, giving our youth the chance to choose what they needed to feel ready and confident for a new school year.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped bring this meaningful event to life. And a special thank you to NAHSE President Naomi Tolbert and NAHSE Secretary Jamia Thomas for their leadership.

Recently, the Eastern Stars Chapter #8 hosted a Purses of Purpose event for our ladies at Primo center.

As the name suggests, this event was about more than just purses. It was a gesture of dignity and care for women experiencing homelessness. It was a reminder that every woman deserves to be seen, valued, and supported. Through fellowship and compassion, the event created a meaningful space full of warmth.

A special thank you to Ms. Sherese Reed and everyone who helped make this event possible. This is what compassion in action truly looks like!

At Primo Center, people are always at the heart of our work.

This truth is a guiding principle as we navigate a future that is becoming increasingly digital. Our partners at RedMane Technology - US and Canada led a discussion on how AI can be used ethically to streamline our operations, strengthen our processes, and better serve our families.

Thank you to Primo Board Member Cheryl Hartshorne, Allison Lowery, Brent Mix, and the RedMane team for leading this discussion and investing in Primo’s mission. We look forward to continuing the conversation and maximizing our impact!
