Stronger Together: Networking Happy Hour is a dynamic evening of connection, inspiration, and community building. Springboard to Success (S2S), CHA’s nonprofit partner, hosts an annual alumni event designed for former S2S Scholarship Awardees and Program Participants. Young professionals and recent graduates, eager to expand their networks, reconnect with peers, and engage with civic leaders who share their commitment to uplifting Chicago and CHA communities.

Keeping this event free for alumni and community leaders is central to our mission of fostering lifelong engagement and strengthening our community. By removing financial barriers to attendance, we maximize participation from alumni at all career stages and from diverse backgrounds.

The evening will feature:
-A short fireside chat with Civic Leaders from Chicago. Welcome from Corliss Garner, followed by Sheila R Brown as moderator for conversation with Dawn Milhouse!

-A networking booklet with Networking Bingo to spark conversations and a section to note contacts for follow-up.

-Opportunities to meet fellow S2S alumni, civic leaders, and potential collaborators.

Connect. Be inspired. Expand your network. And take an active role in shaping opportunities for the next generation of leaders from Chicago’s public housing community.

S2S Scholarship alum, Jordan Henderson illustrates how S2S support can create a ripple effect that extends far beyond a single scholarship.

As a first-generation college student whose parents did not graduate from high school, Jordan experienced firsthand the financial challenges of pursuing higher education. S2S support helped ease that burden, allowing him to complete his undergraduate degree at Northern Illinois University, earn his master’s degree, and become a licensed mental health counselor.

Today, Jordan serves his community by helping others navigate their own challenges.

His story demonstrates the lasting impact of investing in young people: support one student, and you can help strengthen an entire community.

“When you choose to give, you’re not just helping one student cover one bill or one semester. You’re helping unlock futures. You’re fueling dreams. You’re investing in whole communities.”
