Through advocacy we work as change agents to influence policy that promotes gender equity in health, education and economic empowerment. is to advocate on behalf of black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education and economic empowerment. Today, May 29th, 2026 we celebrate the passage of the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson Sr. Youth Voter Empowerment Law (HB4339/SB1786) into law!

Through letter-writing campaigns, Legislative Day in Springfield, meetings with legislators, and ongoing advocacy efforts, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Chicago Metropolitan Chapter proudly joined the fight to ensure Illinois students have the opportunity to register to vote before graduation.

This victory is a testament to the power of civic engagement and collective action. Special thanks to our Public Policy Committee and our very own coalition sister Letina Brady Pettis for her leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to championing this important legislation.
