Lamentamos compartir que un pequeño negocio de larga trayectoria en el vecindario de South Chicago se ha visto afectado por acciones de ICE esta semana. Los propietarios han sido detenidos y enfrentan deportación. Después de servir a la comunidad por más de 10 años, este negocio cerrará permanentemente.

Para apoyar a la familia en este momento difícil, su hija está organizando una gran venta de liquidación. Todos los artículos deben venderse y se ofrecerán tal cual, a precios descontados. Solo se aceptará efectivo. Las ganancias ayudarán directamente a la familia de diversas maneras.

Community Announcement

We regret to share that a long-established small business in our South Chicago neighborhood has been impacted by ICE actions this week. The owners have been detained and face deportation. After serving the community for over 10 years, this business will be closing permanently. To support the family during this difficult time, their daughter is organizing a large liquidation sale. All items must be sold and will be offered as is, at discounted prices. Cash only. Proceeds will directly help the family in various ways. We encourage neighbors and community members to stop by and show their support. Please do not attend if you are at risk of being detained by ICE.

Please donate to help our coalition of mutual aid groups continue to deliver food across the city!

Pilsen Free Store is part of a coalition of autonomous mutual aid organizations called Chicagoland Food Sovereignty Coalition. Together, we work to create an equitable and sustainable community-based food system in Chicago. We serve 25+ neighborhoods, rescue 30 tons of food per week, and distribute food to over 9,000 neighbors. With the cuts to granting and funding, many of our consistent weekly food donations have been scaled back or have stopped altogether. Now with the cuts to SNAP, the demand is increasing at the same time the supply is becoming limited. In order to offset this lack of food donations, we'll need to purchase more food. That's where you come in! By donating to our Coalition fund, you'll be helping to support our efforts to feed our community and achieve food sovereignty in the Chicagoland area.

Due to the frequent sightings of ICE and current ICE raids we will no longer be posting our location and free store dates on social media. But the Free Store will continue to happen bi-weekly. If more information is needed on the date, time, and location please feel free to message us through Instagram.
