✨ Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ✨
In the spirit of service and purpose, SHE Chicago had the privilege of attending the MLK Day of Service hosted by the Imani Pearls Community Development Foundation Students engaged in powerful activities that allowed them to create vision boards, explore the power of storytelling, and learn the importance of preserving their family histories—reminding us that our stories matter and our dreams are worth nurturing.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible women of the for their continued commitment to educating, uplifting, and serving our youth. Your dedication is shaping future leaders and honoring Dr. King’s legacy in action. 💜🕊️

✨💐 When given the opportunity to connect beyond their own communities, children truly flourish. Those opportunities are made possible by the adults who intentionally create spaces rooted in care, joy, and belonging.
The students of SHE Chicago were honored to attend the inspiring Coach Ben Johnson Contest at the Wintrust Sports Complex in the Village of Bedford Park. Students enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility, the excitement of the video arcade, winning prizes, and the shared joy and camaraderie of Chicago Bears fans coming together in community.
From SHE Chicago to the Village of Bedford Park and Adam, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for investing in our students and creating moments they will carry with them far beyond this day. ✨💐

✨ This past weekend was all about joy, sisterhood, and letting our girls simply be girls. ✨
SHE Chicago had the honor of taking our middle school SHE Sisters to Breakfast With Santa, hosted by the Imani Pearls Community Development Foundation 🎄🤍. Our girls were invited to bring along their little siblings for a morning filled with breakfast, arts & crafts, Christmas movies, story time, and sweet moments captured with Santa 📸🎅🏽.
At SHE Chicago, we are intentional about combating the adultification of Black girls, while also honoring their lived realities as big sisters and co-caregivers. This experience created space for both truths to coexist — allowing our girls to show up as loving, responsible sisters and to experience the magic, playfulness, and wonder of childhood themselves.
Moments like these matter. They affirm that our girls deserve softness, joy, and the freedom to be kids — even as they carry big roles in their families and communities.
A heartfelt thank you to the and the for pouring into our community and making this beautiful experience possible.

💜 Welcome to Team SHE, Jerilynn Johnson! 💜
We are thrilled to officially welcome Mrs. Jerilynn Johnson to the SHE Chicago family! As we pilot an exciting new facilitation model, we are honored that Mrs. Johnson has joined our team as a SHE Facilitator during this pivotal moment of growth and evolution for our organization.
Mrs. Johnson brings with her 15 years of experience as a School Counselor with Chicago Public Schools, along with a deep, personal commitment to supporting girls as they navigate the critical transition from childhood to womanhood. As the mother of two daughters, ages 7 and 17, her professional work and personal purpose align seamlessly with SHE’s mission to bridge social-emotional learning and academic achievement for girls.
Her belief in the power, agency, and wisdom of young women is beautifully captured in her favorite quote by Maya Angelou: “A wise woman wishes to be no one’s enemy; a wise woman refuses to be anyone’s victim.”
We are deeply grateful for Mrs. Johnson’s decision to partner with SHE Chicago at this moment and are excited about the impact her voice, leadership, and care will have on our SHE Sisters. We look forward to all that this partnership will bring as we continue to grow, innovate, and serve.
✨ Welcome to the village, Mrs. Johnson! ✨

The SHE Society Incorporated began as a conversation between teachers at a high school in Chicago’s South Shore Community. They shared their life stories with one another, and spoke about their passion for urban youth, particularly young women. As a result of the conversation they felt compelled to support young women through character education, community service and college and career preparation. They agreed that with Strength, Humility and Empowerment (SHE), young women could evolve into transformational leaders for their communities.
SHE Chicago launched at EPIC Academy September 4, 2017. Our first cohort consisted of 80 SHE Sisters. In our first year we saw a 62% reduction in disciplinary referrals as a result of our character education curriculum, along with an end of year cumulative SHE.P.A (GPA) of 3.75 due to our college and career support
SHE (Strong. Humble. Empowered.) is a character education based after-school organization designed to support teen girls in three areas: Social and Self-Awareness (SSA), Health and Beauty (H&B) and College and Career Readiness (CCR). We are committed to serving high performing, under resourced girls between the ages of 14 and 18 who are seeking character training, community service opportunities and college and career support.
We provide mentoring through character education, community service opportunities and college and career preparation using our comprehensive 10 month curriculum designed for teen girls by high school teachers. Our 3-9-3 model combines the 3 pillars, 9 virtues and 3 strands of SHE to provide 360 degree support to the whole young woman.
